Glad you guys are behind this thing!
If you go to THIS (http://www.animationondvd.com/petition_looneytunes.html) page you'll see some ways to help promote it (including banners and buttons).
-and hippity hopper, it doesn't matter if you are in the USA or not.:D
I will gladly sign this petition. It's kind of sad that we even have to resort to petitioning WB to get these cartoons on DVD in the first place! Although, depending on who you talk to, WB is (or isn't) already in varying stages of preparing these cartoons for DVD.
But, hey! If public opinion (and pressure) can sway WB into releasing WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY in a widescreen version in addition to the pan and scan version, then I'm all for a LT/MM petition. It just might work.

Yup, I'll be signing it too. We gotta make sure LTs don't eventually get shelved away and exist only in our memories. Plus, I'd finally be able to see them anytime I want! AND, think of the extras...(drools) :D
Oh...fans were the reason Wonka got on DVD? Well, do it once, you can cetainly do it twice...

Just as long as what happened to the early Dr Who episodes don't happen to Looney Tunes. The episodes with the first two doctors are completly gone. I don't know if there are any early WB toons that are unrecoverable, but I think time would be of essence to get these out on the digital format. And in their complete entirety.
btw, didn't Cartoon Research at one time announce that LT DVDs were due out soon? Or was it another site?
I signed it, I'm number 83 or so (gosh, this petition has grown quickly), and I'm going to put that banner on my page too.
And no, no Looney Tune cartoons are lost, eccept for one, "The Adventures Of The Roadrunner" TV pilot/featurette. it was completely hacked up to make "Zip Zip Hooray" and "Roadrunner A Go Go." It could probably be restored.
I think that WB would make many great discoverys, of things they didn't even know they had, if they just opened the vaults and restored the cartoons.

From Jerry's site, on the news page: "...there are no concrete plans to release any Looney Tunes on DVD in the U.S. that I know of. And take it from me, I know."
So I'm assuming that this means they are planning at doing DVDs at some point, and that is why there are all of the rumors about DVDs not being ready in 2002 and so on, but they haven't decided exactly what is going on, what will be released, and of course what date. But this is all just my personal guess.

This petition might just work, because Jerry Beck signed it, too! I'm #114, and will add the banner when my site reopens. Cross your fingers, folks!

I signed it.
WB would profit highly from LT DVD's. I would be more than happy to purchase large 75 cartoon-each collections. "The Complete Looney Tunes of Bob Clampett" ? My check is in the mail!

Sounds about accurate tho. They are doing that with the Batman animated DVDs too, in this state of undecision. What brain trust does it take to realize there are plenty of adults out there who WANT to spend money on this and will buy their products? I just hope that it isn't because some of the early cartoons are so far gone they are having a hard time restoring them. Maybe they aren't telling us something because they know we would be upset?

Holy crap! There's over 420 signatures! Maybe Jerry Beck posting it on his site was a good idea. I have the banner on my site as well.

My gosh - you mean that thing isn't guaranteed to work? Oh, the horror of it all! You just made me realize that I wasted about 2 minutes of my day yesterday signing that thing. What was I thinking? How could I have been so foolish?
Wait! Now I just wasted another minute or two writing this!
;)
Seriously dave, we know this thing is a long shot, but isn't it worth the attempt since it requires such a small investment in time or effort? Jerry Beck has hinted that there are people on the inside who want to restore and release these and maybe efforts like this will help their cause. Moreover, in business there is often some luck involved with getting an idea onto the radar screen of the right person to push the idea - maybe this could do that.
Every good idea has naysayers and wet blankets. Despite this people are frequently able to accomplish the unexpected.
So, I don't care that it's an uphill battle - I'm hoping we get lucky.

You know, there have been several successful petition drives for DVD releases in the past. And some have been for WB releases, so who's to say this one won't be successful?
I don't really see the point of nay-saying this, it takes just as much effort to say "it won't work" as it does to just sign the petition. It may help, it may not, but at least we can show WB that there's a demand.

To quote Homer Simpson, SWEET MERCIFUL CRAP! The petition is at 995 signatures! Only 5 to go and we got 10000 guys! When is this thing going to be submitted to Warner's?
It just hit 1000! I also wonder how long this petition will be around, I think it only started a couple days ago, word hasn't really spread yet.

Yes, it did just go over the 1,000 mark (and it just started Monday morning)!
This has been by far the most successful petition that we've run at Animation on DVD (http://www.animationondvd.com) - an that is due in large part to the support of the fine folks here at ToonZone and the other sites that have helped promote this particular petition (Cartoon Research & Dark Horizons are two other biggies that I know about).
The question of how long it will be around was asked, so I'll do my best to give a semi-coherent answer. The Willy Wonka Widescreen petition got over 10,000 signatures and to be honest, I think that this petition will need probably 5,000+ to really get Warner Bros. attention. So - the plan is to hold off on notifying Warner Bros. about it for some time until the signature count gets on up there. The petition may still continue running for some time after they are notified though.
So - how do we get the count up there? I'll recap what is on the site as far as some of the suggested ways of spreading the word:
1) Sign the Petition
2) Tell at least one friend with a similar interest about this petition.
3) Post a link to this petition on any message board where it would be appropriate (obviously some of you took this one to heart).
4) Write a letter to the address shown below, diplomatically stating your opinions on this matter.
(The address is:
Warren Lieberfarb
President
Warner Home Video
4000 Warner Blvd.
Burbank, CA 91522 )
5) If you have a web site, use one of the banners or buttons on this page (http://www.animationondvd.com/petition_looneytunes.html) to bring attention to this petition.
6. (This is a new one) If you know of a web site, newspaper, television station, radio station, etc. that might be interested in this, please contact them and help spread the word to the masses.
At the moment that I'm writing this, there are 1,017 signatures. Of those 1,017 I'd venture to say that the vast majority of them are pretty die-hard animation/DVD buffs. To reach the kind of numbers of people necessary to REALLY get WB's attention will take an all out onslaught through the media to reach the folks who may not visit particular web sites, but would still be interested in having these cartoons on DVD.
Again, any help in spreading the word would be appreciated. Thanks to each and every one of you who have signed thus far.

Not to put a damper on this, as I'm sure that the majority of signitures are legit, but there must be some shilling (multiple signings using aliases) going on. For instance, all of a sudden is a bunch of signitures asking for Pepe Le Pew. All saying the same thing. There are some with obviously bogus names or places. And what about first-name-only signitures? They can't have much validity. Petitions are certainly an effective tool for stirring the masses, but the most famous DVD one, for Star Wars 4-6 on DVD, essentially failed. I suspect there was a LOT of fan shilling on that one, though.
This one's going to have to have at least 10,000 legitimate signings before any of those dense marketing people at WB take notice.

This petition continues to eek along (currently at 1,930 signatures), but I hope to accelerate things in the next few weeks.
Since the folks here at ToonZone have been so helpful with this petition - and I know you all are probably very interested in seeing this petition succeed, I'd like to share with you the game plan.
Okay, like others have mentioned, this petition probably needs 10,000 signatures to have any kind of impact. So, how do we get 8,000+ more signatures?
I'm planning on sending out a press release to major and minor media outlets announcing that the petition has reached 2,000 signatures and hitting home that the petition's goal isn't only to have these cartoons released on DVD, but also to have Warner Bros. restore them to their original glory.
I've been able to get comments from both Don Bluth and Ralph Bakshi about the importance of these cartoons and why they should be preserved and presented in the best possible manner - those comments would be included in the release.
How can you help?
A) I'm looking for media outlets that would be inclined to run something about this topic. If you have any suggestions, please post them (along with the proper contact information if available). I have a list, but I'm sure there are places I've overlooked (college newspapers, free tabloid style magazines, etc.)
B) I'd like to have at least a few folks here review the release before it is put out for accuracy in the details - I'm pretty much a one-man show on things like the petitions, so it's hard to fact check sometimes.
C) Keep telling your friends about the petition.
Thanks...

Let's see...
I don't know diddly about this stuff, but I'm gonna put in my 2 cents anyways...(It's never stopped me before)
Roger Ebert could probably support the thing, along with Leonard Maltin. Both of them like toons. Maybe you could get quotes from them too or something.
Also USA Today put that thing about The Popeye Show in their paper...It's worth a shot, anywho.
That's all I got.
