...but I have to. My mind can't take it anymore!!!
Ok, I'm not the biggest comic reader. And trying to get ahold of new, decent, comics around here is a pain.
I want to know:
How Barbara was put into a Wheel Chair. And what the deal w/ the Oracle thing is.
I feel stupid asking that, but I don't think I can call myself a Batman fan if I didn't ask.. :)

That all came about from an Alan Moore/Brian Bolland book some years back called "The Killing Joke". I won't give it away for you but get a copy from your local comic shop. You won't disappointed! As far as Oracle coming about, it was because Babs was paralyzed and she was frustrated at not being able to put on the cape and cowl. Not sure what issue that was, though...

The Oracle character sort of gerew over the years. She didn't come as predominant until after Knightfall. I don't think there was a real intro issue to Oracle.
I'm not a big comic collector myself BB, but I did find out what happened to Babs and how she became Oracle by searching the web. I don't have the money to go out and get loads of comics so that was the easiest way for me.;)

Babs first appeared as Oracle in the pages of Suicide Squad. There's no "first apearance" really, cause they built her up over several isues. In one issue you'd see them communicating with someone with someone called The Orcale, then in another you see a shot of Orcale's computer with a Batgirl doll next to it, and eventually they did a full reveal. I don't know the exact issue numbers.

cool, thanks guys. I didn't realize the crippling of Barbara was in The Killing Joke. I'll have to pick it up, as I've heard it's a great comic..had I realized that her Crippling was in it..I would've bought it a LONG time ago.. :)

It's been an awfully long time since I read the Killing Joke. I will have to check it out again. Good comics never get old.

The current JOKER: LAST LAUGH is makign Barbara remember the awful events of KILLING JOKE. Actually, the final arc of NO MAN'S LAND featured a part where THE KILLING JOKE came into play big time.

The Birds Of Prey#1 comic also featured a flashback of when Barbara was paralyzed.

If you get THE KILLING JOKE, there's an issue of BATMAN CHRONICLES that dealt with the immediate consequences of the event. I'll try and find the issue.
