Well, I just watched the first Judge Granny, and judging by the storyboard art they have, it looks like this is going to be a regular series of shorts, with Granny presiding over many characters, like Roadrunner and Coyote, as well Daffy and Elmer.
Anyway, this week used Sylvester and Tweety. Sylvester brought Tweety to court for blowing up the house, or something like that. Granny had each of them tell their side of the story.
Sylvester said he was trying to be nice to Tweety, and wanted to give him a present. Him being nice made Tweety want to blow up the house. Sylvester was depicted as innocent, with blue eyes and long eyelashes, while Tweety looked mean.
Then Tweety told his side of the story. He said Sylvester came up to his cage with a package, asked if He was there (and Tweety's voice, from inside the cage, said that nobody was home). Sylvester didn't belive Tweety and taped some TNT to the cage. Some of the tape stuck Sylvester to the cage. While Sylvester struggled to break free, Tweety came through the window saying "I told you I wasn't home." The house then explodes.
There was really nothing funny about either segment, considering every cartoon show ever made has had at least one "Trial Of Mr. Wolf" style cartoon. This was so "bare bones" too, nothing added, nothing different. The only sort of original part was when it turned out Tweety really wasn't home.
Then it let me decide who was guilty. I naturally chose Tweety, who's sentence was to be locked up in a bird cage.
After that, I decided to watch it again so I could see what would have happened to Sylvester. He got 8 death sentences (electric chair). And Tweety got to pull the lever each time. This was sort of funny, and it was interesting to see the witnesses to Sylvester's execution (the Polka Mouse, Hippety Hopper, ect).
I guess it was okay, for an internet cartoon, but I wish they would try something original.
Also, I really didn't like the music they used. It seems they used the same music from "Toon Marooned" (at least it sounds like it).
What did you all think?
