...it's here.
From CNN.com:
The U.S. launched airstrikes at 1:00 P.M., said Pres. Bush. Attacks on defense installations at Kabul and Kandhalar were made; Kandahlar's power was out from this attack.
Let us pray for the world...

My guess? It may be only a little we have to bomb, but we're going to bomb it anyway just to show them what they're up against, as well as just to make sure they don't have ANYthing at ALL...
NEWS: As posted on TTTP, Britain's already begun strikes...so the coalation is already working together.
Also, the airport at Kandhalar has its radar systems destroyed; though Taliban officials say that's no biggie...

Still need electricity to run a lot of the tech stuff they need for defense.

NEWS: Tony Blair, in a speech made shortly before, said that Germany, France, Australia, and Canada are definantly part of the coalation that attacks.
He also said that 'a humanitarian' coalation will be formed soon and it is "just as important as the military one". Good job, guys.
Bush himself said that more than 40 countries have offered landing/airspace rights.
The Taliban calls these strikes "a terrorist attack". Please...it's a little pathetic to hear people who use a soccer stadium for executions to call someone else terrorists.

Exactly, that is just ridiculous. It's pathetic that they're even trying to call it a terrorist attack. Have you heard that they offered to give Bin Laden to us after the strikes started, but we said no thanks. What kind of idiots would play a bluffing game like that with the most powerful military in the world, after a terrorist attack that shook the country? They deserve everything they get.

I really don't like war. But, in this case, it's the right thing to do. Especially since the Taliban jailed a bunch of foriegn aid workers and said that their welfare would depend on whether or not we invaded. That's hostage-taking... a key element of terrorism. It was one thing when they balked on handing over Bin Ladin, but this goes against UN agreements.
I'm just glad that the US isn't going into this alone...

It is necessary, but there's nothing about this to cheer about. I'm sorry, but I wouldn't have been one of those people shown on the news cheering.

I'm just glad that the US isn't going into this alone... I would like this to be more of a UN operation but since UN Peace Keepers are a joke then it is understandable that US and it allies take matters into their own hands. Maybe after all this we would have a stronger UN.

I was at work today when the attacks began. I have to admit, I was happy at the news, and the guy I was working with was just estatic. It was great news, IMO, not that we were at war, but that we were finally putting actions to our words. Those cowards can only hide in their caves for so long. If they are as strong and with God as much as they think they are, why don't they come out and fight face to face?
The only thing kinda off topic, but not really, I have to add, is that I was waiting for this young girl (a student at UMKC) to finish her membership application. She was Muslim, and this guy comes up to rent and I made an offhand comment about how we were finally striking back and how I thought it was the good thing to do and this guy goes off on some extremist rant about how we should kill civilians and all this extreme hatred just spewed out from him for all Muslims and I just stood there not responding, not wanting to talk to him at all, as I wanted him out of my store as soon as possible.
I like what President Bush said. We are not against Muslims but against terrorists. I just felt so horrible that that guy said all that stuff, and not just for that Muslim girl who had to hear it (and I could tell she wanted to say something but probably felt it best not to) but also for all Americans, because extremeists like that can give those who support this war and the strategic strikes a bad name.

Actually, that news was kind of false, at least in my eyes. The post at the TTTP said that a source reported that Blair was going to say something at a meeting the next day that would go something like "Hey, if you don't change now, we will start bombing now". What he said was more like, "If you don't change, there will be a punishment." No real mention of when that punishment would occur, although it was pretty darn soon after the warning which was I believe early last week.
Anyways, Britain and the U.S. both started attacking today.
Don't count your news before it's hatched, especially if it's from Ananova.
