Has anyone else heard? It comes out in January, on the 16th. I'll go see it.

Despite the fact that the plot is extremely farfetched, the animation is not cinematic, they only made this because the show won an Emmy, and Baseman's artwork is ugly...

I'm going to see it/buy it on DVD because I like the show.http://forums.toonzone.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Three thoughts about Teacher's Pet: the Movie:

a) This kind of project screams, at the top of its lungs, "direct-to-video". (Did Disney learn nothing from Doug's First Movie?)

b) Does anyone even remember (let alone care about) the TV series?

c) January 16th? They may as well release it direct-to-video.

what i can't help but wonder is, with much of its movie animation staff gone, if they find themselves needing to make 2d movies again with the remaining 2d movies doing welll ... and not having the staff to make them.

i smell 'irony'.

I've seen the movie promos. I sorta like Teacher's Pet, but I'm not going to go out of my way to see it, but I won't avoid seeing it either.

Actually, that's probably what you'll hear a lot pretty soon. Oh and I agree, the art has always been horrid.

Well this show has more of a plot than Pepper Ann or Weekenders (kinda). There's not really a whole lot you can do with kids at school (see also: Doug movie). I'm guessing that's why they made it...

Tobias, you said the magic word with this toonster. Gargoyles as a Movie would be way better then say Teacher's Pet.. and it wasn't the animation that made Gargoyles a very good show.. it was the Dynamics that were so well defined and in fact the whole Series was a Godsend in the early 1990's animation series, where shows like that were on the Decline.(The only show that even comes close to Gargoyles is Reboot (one of the first CGI shows that was run..)

but in fact why is Disney Even running such a TV show into a Movie, particularly this one which i might add got an Emmy Award? Puh-lease. I mean Gargoyles was way better quality in animation, plus the fact that it had a PLOT.. Teacher's pet really falls flat in my opinion, the animation is sloppy at best..

Sometimes i think Gargoyles would have been a Better choice and it still could be done though...but you know Eisner and Disney, Cut the cost, save a buck, and kill all the good animators.. that's their spin on this..

Has Recess: School's Out and Doug's First Movie ever been shown on Disney? I know Doug was shown on Toon Disney at Thanksgiving, but I never saw it anywhere else outside of that.

Ugh! Not this show again. This should be released on DVD like Recess should've done.

And out of all of the great shows Disney has done through out the years, why haven't they got their own full length feature?

Wow, there's not even the slightest change in animation, save for darker colors. Usually a TVshow-to-movie has better animation than the series.

As for Disney movies, they should make a big-budget Darkwing Duck movie. Reintroduce him to the new generation. Get a big-name comedian to voice him, some kid star to voice Gosylan, and some other big-name actor to voice the Villian, throw in humor that isn't just immature fart jokes, and you got mainstream appeal.

To do a good movie would mean to hire a top notch writer. That would be expensive.

So, to save money Eisner chooses to hire high school drop outs who as Mickey would put it couldn't even write a shopping list.

The only good shows Disney has would be Kim Possible and Lilo And Stitch.

Geez you guys. Can you all just give Gargoyles a rest. It was a good show but it's over and done. Why does everyone keep saying that Disney is actually doing something horrible by neglecting this show. Sure they might release it on DVD but I'm 100% positive they'll never make a new TV show or a movie out of it. It's over and I cant believe some of you people talk about like it's a brand new show that deserves widespread exposure. Please.

People continue to talk about Gargoyles because it was one of the few shows that Disney did almost perfectly. The Avalon episodes went on far too long, and the Goliath Chronicles could've been handled better, but other than that the show deserves all the praise it continues to get.

Maybe it is becasuse it had such a major impact on the viewers over the years that we can't stop talking about it. Until shows like Animaniacs, Duck Tales, B:TAS, Scooby Doo, and Tiny Tunes are stoped being praised in the same fashion, then people will still discuss Gargoyles.

IMO Teachers Pet's art style is almost as bad as Klasky-Csupo's. That's saying a lot.

I don't have a problem with the animal's designs (Scott/Spot, Mr. Jolly, etc) but I HATE the designs for the human characters. They all look like circus clowns with those hideously oversized noses. And Leonard? Boy looks like he's never even heard of the sun.

Man, you guys don't realize that about everyone's animation (drawing) style is different. If you or anyone else tries to copy or trace someone else's style, that means that you can't draw very well. Anyway, Gargoyles is not going to get a movie, and you guys can't do anything about it. No petitions, no letters, no nothing. Unless you get together with some rich guys and make an unofficial movie, but that's besides the point. If it were Scooby-Doo we were talking about, though, you could bet on one, but not with Gargoyles. The show ended years (almost a decade now) ago.

Didn't people say something similar about Family Guy? That show will be back in 2005 with new eps.

Cartoons always have a chance of returning, even if it is a total revamp. He-Man, TMNT, and Transformers have proven that old toons never die. Hell, the Jetsons and Johnny Quest came back many, many years later with new in-continuity (although updated) episodes of their original series. Although Gargoyles might be not back while Hitler, er, I mean, Eisner is in charge, there's always a chance for new eps.

Tobias you hit it right on the head.. and believe me some toons are so memorable, it's hard to kill them...

Transformers, GI Joe, He-man, they're back and with a major vengance.. Speed Racer too..
but watch in 10 years time when you look back at 2000-2009, and you look at what was popular, shows lIke Kim Possible, and the Weekeneders will be back with a force to be reckoned with..

If a toon Can be remembered then it should be redone.. or at least improved upon.. or let run with New situations..

Gargoyles, Darkwing Duck, they both need to be redone..after all they could do it, so why not? And Let other shows Like Buzz Lightyear return in 2007.. after all the idea is there , why not let the shows run till the fans Lose interest.. after all you don't go out and Kill a show just for the buck now do you?

Well do you Mikey E?

as for the Teacher's Pet angle... Frankly they need to really put that Talking Dog out of his misery.. Make him a HUMAN! Oh wait, that's what they're planning to do! :D but sadly if this is equivalent to Klasky Csupo Animation.. Maybe they should start doing a Teen Titans Movie over at Cartoon Network.. or maybe a Duck Dodgers movie..

but Teachers pet never liked it.. so what's next on Eisner's mind..? A Filmore Movie?

After all Toonage is as Toonage does!

I miss Gargoyles, too. But this is a discussion about the Teacher’s Pet movie. If you want to whine about the tragic demise of Gargoyles, please start a new thread.

Back on topic:

I encourage everyone to go see the Teacher’s Pet movie because its been a while since we’ve seen Disney release a real musical. I’m sick of Phil Collins; I want to hear the characters sing again! And Nathan Lane and Kelsey Grammer are in it!! That alone is worth the price of admission! :D

Also, after Teacher’s Pet and Home on the Range, who knows when we’ll get another chance to see 2-D animation on the big screen? :(

When I first heard that Teacher’s Pet was getting a theatrical release, I flipped out, too. But then I actually watched the show and I realized that it deserves the emmy and the movie because it’s a darn good show and it actually DOES have a plot. Watch the show and you’ll find it. I promise.

A show shouldn’t have to be as dark or as deep as Gargoyles to be deemed worthy of an animated feature.

at least you realize what Quality Toonage is there KimPossibleFan, ;), and yes Filmore is actually quite a good show!.. it's right along the same lines as Kim Possible but the thing is Why Eisner is Doing a Teacher's Pet Movie, is completely even beyond My Comprehension of his train of Thought (which probably Derailed 12 Years ago..)

I love Teacher's Pet! I can't wait to go see the movie! My favorite character is Mr. Jolly. His voice alone cracks me up!

As for a Darkwing Duck movie, I'd see it in a heart beat but the idea of an actual kid playing Gosalyn and a comedian playing Darkwing? Nobody could ever replace Jim and Christine! Jim cummings is really funny as Darkwing already. I apologize for going off topic but I just had to say something about Darkwing since it was mentiond. :-) Teacher's Pet looks so awesome and I can't wait to see it!if a house in

I've seen an episode or two of the show, the writing in some cases is palatable, unfortunately the art style makes me gag, call me crazy but modern art and animation really shouldn't go together
