Redesign Terry's suit

If you could redesign Terry's Batman suit - how would you change it. Alot of people see it as a cheap NIGHTWING suit - so how would it be changed not to resemble it as much?

well as it is now it's a pretty cool looking design. i wouldn't change too much. i'd probably just experiment with losing the mouth hole in the mask. he'd look alot more like a shadowy, intimadting demon type with just the eyes. and i was never really too crazy about the big red button in the center of his belt. i'd probably get rid of that too. the side silver pockets of the belt are okay, i'd keep them on there . just add in a smaller center part to it. since the big red chest insignia is what probably mainly makes everyone look at him as a nightwing ripoff, well..maybe just tilt it a bit. kind of slant it and change the color a bit. kind of the stretched out slanty look thats pictured on the batman beyond soundtrack cd, if anyone has seen that. those are my ideas for now.

Here is my prototype redesign of the Suit (I just added a cape and got rid of the mouth, I know, I know). I just started this drawing last night for a Batman Beyond story I am writing. I will post the specs later (alongside a finished pic)

That redesign looks really cool! I like it! I would like to see that be the "evolved" look of the current Bat costume. You know Terry will change the costume eventually. It could work really good as that!

If I wanted to change something, I'd change the ears back to their normal size. I don't really mind them, but I think it'd look cooler if they were a bit smaller.

I'd probably also change his wings a bit to Gargoyle style thing. You know when they aren't flying, their wings hang over like capes? I think that'd be a cool thing to add to the suit.

I can't see the picture you posted Periphery!

- I always wished that Terry was a little more muscular and bigger, like Bruce was in Rebirth pt1, but I also realize that the kid is only 17 years old and won't be done growing until he is 25.
Another thing would be his cape...I miss something more than just a pair of fold-out paper wings, but I have no idea of what to replace them with

Sweet design Periphery. You're starting to convince me that a cape on the new Batman suit could work.
I never thought that it was a ripoff of the Nightwing suit. To me it's more of a hybrid of the Batman and Nightwing costumes.

I'm assuming your avatar shows your redesign. If it is, that is very nice. I wouldn't have ever pictured the cape working in combination with th rest of setup, but you do make it work! Great job!

Have you thought about sharing it on "The Drawing Board"?

I don't mind mouth part of the suit. I love the idea of having a cape that can turn into wings.

I love the design Periphery! Taking away the mouth hole and the way you incorporated the cape makes for a much more menacing look.
Fish, I agree with you. I've always thought that Terry was too small. Bruce, being bigger and broader, looked much better in the suit. Terry being bigger, broader, and more muscular...coupled with Periphery's design, would make for an awesome future incarnation of Terry's "Batman."

I was convinced a cape wouldn't work on the suit, but the redesign just make sit work. I don't know how but it just seamlessly fits in there. Great job!

Pretty much I'm with everyone else on the cape and no mouth. I just love the idea the terror that the Batman would cause in the criminals and some villians. It was part of the whole Batman mythos, and sorley lacking in BB.

Imagine being a member of a gang in a dark alley, when you see a demon with pointy ears and huge bat-like wings completely in shadow envelop a fellow member. The poor soul devoured by this creature of the night, then spit back out as a lifeless (unconsious) husk of flesh upon the wet concrete. Then the creature with those percing eyes looks at you...

I dunno about the rest of you, but if that were me... I'd be doing warp speed away as fast as my feet would carry me and then some, or, and most likely, the growing puddle of warm liquid at my feet expressing the fear I'd feel while praying to every god and goddess known to man and then some.

Basically, if BB were to play upon the 'criminals are a superstious and cowardly lot' then yes the costume would definitely need to be redesigned. However, as a spy/ninja type of hero which seemed to be more of Terry's modus operandi, then the suit is just fine.

but I still miss the cape.... ;)


Hmmm... I just thought of something, if Terry wanted to keep his identity truly secret, than by putting some curves into the costume would help that along with a voice pitch modulator and viola, one female Batman. Nobody would connect the dots. :D

I'd want the Gargoyle wing-esque cape, like Goliath has. I've had subtle desires of that since I first saw the BB costume and was longing for a cape.

But one thing I can not do without is the classic batman underbite and sneer. That's why I just can't advocate getting rid of the mouth, although I love the job Periphery did. Batman has to show when he's moody and ticked off, and in a drawing of him I can't see it without the mouth (slight underbite).
