In his season 12 appearance he gets the death penalty, but he's back in season 14, many people consider he died, but we never saw, so why do people think he died in that episode?

Do you know how long it takes for them to put someone to death? A long time in many cases. Season 12 to 14 was only 2 years. I dont know who thinks he died, but I never did. It would have been more of a note in the show if they actually did it.

Well I thought they were basically hinting at that there would never be another SSB episode ever.

And Delia remember, they didn't give him a trial. They were just going to kill him.

Yeah, usually when someone says they're going to kill someone and has him sit down to get lethally injected I consider them dead.

I think Sideshow Bob being alive just demonstrates that the Simpson's writers really don't care that much about continuity.

It's a friggin' cartoon. Besides you can't blame them for inconsistency in the episodes because there is just so much you can do with the same characters.

That only applies to this washed up show. Ninja Turtles, B:TAS and a multitude of "friggin' cartoons" do have continuity.

Why is this show on the air and not Futurama.

Um....they stoped caring about plot holes a few seasons back?

Hans Moleman was put to death back in season 6. That didn't really take, either. The rule seems to be, unless the death is of major importance to the episode, it doesn't take. People can't seem to recognize a throwaway gag when they see it.

Because, as Sigma has said, "Fox is the anti-christ!"

how'd this topic even get started?

Bob never got his trial. Wiggum was just eager to kill him.
He's at large at the moment, hopefully another Bob episode is in the near future. Bob's the only reason I care the Simspsons are still in production. The day he dies is the die I walk.

I think Bob managed to get some sort of trial at the last minute, or Krusty intervined, giving some speech that convinced Wiggum and the other police officers to let Bob go... directly to jail.
