View Full Version : It's a sad, sad world

On my drive home each evening, I see this house with a beautiful nativity scene. It's in their back yard, but that's the view you best get from the main road that passes by it, so I am sure that's why they put it up in the backyard. It's been up for a few weeks now. Well, anyway, I drove by this afternoon and somebody had thrown orange paint all over it. I don't mean to spark any controversies over nativity scenes and religious symbols (though I understand a recent poll found only 8% of the people are against religious symbols at Christmas, so I feel the wide majority can handle it), but for somebody to go on another person's private property and do something so cruel really bothered me. It's like you just can't put anything nice up like that anymore. People suck.

Yeah people do suck. :(

Damn punks. (Or atheists? Maybe both. )

But it is rude fo them to do something like that.

Some people in this world...

I don't understand it. I don't understand it at all. I'm not terribly keen on Christianity, but there's no reason for anyone to take offence at a simple nativity scene on private property.

Idiocy, small-minded idiocy, that's all it could be.

Most atheists I know wouldn't go do things like that. It's vandals and punks. Pretty dumb stuff.

These people are just like the ones that steal pumpkins off people's porches during Halloween and smash them. It's simple, mindless vandalism.

Anyway, I think that stinks. I would hate for someone to come into my parents yard and rip down their Christmas lights, just because they have some kind of desire to harm property and people. Oh well, most people in the world are wonderful and don't throw paint on things in other people's yards.

Pretty much agree there. Its stupid to do something like that, and Im sure it wasn't an atheist, dont blame things on people when you don't know who did it, that only makes things worse.

That was probably done by a prankster, but if the person seriously opposed such religious symbols, there would have been a much more appropriate thing to do. Instead of ruining what someone else put up, they could just put anything up on their own property that the other person would not like.

It's like you just can't put anything nice up like that anymore.

It is a fact that the prankster had no right to do what was done, but it is an opinion that the decoration was "nice" to begin with.

Religious symbol or not, it is never appropriate. The fact is that it is property destruction.

Heck, I'm utterly anti-organized religion, and that disgusts me. Naitivity scenes are beautiful. People can be so stupid.
