I am going to be subscribing to an anime magazine and I wanted to know which magazine I should subscribe to. Which magazine has the good stuff?

It really depends on personal preference. The only two choices I would consider are Animerica and Newtype.
Newtype is more for the diehard, gotta-get-it-as-soon-as-possible type of fan. Since about 3/4 of it is news on anime etc. straight from Japan, there isnt as much coverage on shows and things stateside. If you don't crave all the latest info on shows not licensed here yet, and are more of a fansub person, then I guess I would go with it.
Animerica, while I don't quite care for it, is probably the more tolerable of the domestic Anime mags. They cover alot of the shows that are recently translated (Witch Hunter Robin etc.) and the like. Though their reviews and editorials leave something to be desired IMO. If you want an economical choice, then Animerica is it. (seeing as it costs about half as much as Newtype).

Honestly, don't.
All the information you can get from them can be found on sites like ANN (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com), AOD (http://www.animeondvd.com) and ToonZone (http://www.toonzone.com)
if for some reason you have a absolute need to subscribe to a mag.. get Shonen Jump.. its a few chapters of Manga each month for a low price..

Ehh, the net is good, but I really like to read mags every month as well, just cause.
Shonen Jump or Animerica EXTRA is your best bet if you want to read manga.
Animerica isn't really much, and neither is Anime Insider.
Newtype USA is pretty good if you like sampling anime and if you really need some posters.
Anime Insider is..uh...well it's Anime Insider.

I have to agree with Galvatron. My subscription to NewType ends in 2 months and I have no plans to re-subscribe. Right now I only read the previews for anime currently airing in Japan and skim the rest.
The only way I would re-subscribe is if they changed their preview discs to include other companies' trailers and/or episodes. They actually did that one month and I loved it. :) But as it stands now, I just can't justify paying for something that I don't even spend 10 mins reading anymore.
If you have to get something, I would recommend Shonen Jump or Maxim. :)

Shonen Jump is not the same kind of thing as Newtype.
At least it's not supposed to be.

Yeah... Shonen Jump isn't really a "magazine". Sure, it has articles and the like in it, but all of that is pretty much mainstream information about mainstream anime...
Get Shonen Jump if you like enough of the manga stories in it to justify the subscription. If you're looking for an actual magazine with news and info and stuff, then... well, Shonen Jump isn't that to begin with.
I personally love Newtype USA. It's as expensive as all get out but I feel it has enough information about series running in Japan that I can't get online so easily as I can with any series just coming out in the US. That plus the DVD pretty much justifies the expense.
Personally I'd go with Newtype. More stuff.

As does the centerfold...<_<

yeah, I'm feelin the Newtype sentiment, but sometimes it has good stuff, and others.,...boring.
it seems to have some kind of limit on covered anime too, where's Naruto, One Piece, etc. it seems they're really hung up on a few good ones and then on a bunch of other stuff that's a possible hit (it got me interested in DNAngel, AiYori Aoshi and Kiddy grade) but most of the mag is kinda...."eh" (like the silly manga artist interviews and the kinda funny-but-would-be-funnier-if-we-knew-the-title-of-the-show editorial in the back)
I too would like to see better DVD previews, and better centerfold images, they only seem to use bland horribly blown up pics you've seen a million on the net (unlike the aweosme ccustom covers and preview artwork featured inside, the main reason I still buy the mag)
but I also find Animerica to be a little...breif for my tastes, althought I like their potentially offensive icons in the reviews (hooray for fanservice!)
and Anime Insider is behind on alot of info, and likes to put Goku on covers

Thanks everybody! I made my descision and it's gonna be Newtype. I'm one of those fans who are "diehard, gotta-get-it-as-soon-as-possible" fans. Plus i like to know what's happening in Japan and I like watching a lot of fansubs and things that aren't liscenced yet.
