I have noticed that some of the WB cartoons like TOKIO JOKIO and ANGEL PUSS show Porky and Daffy's faces on the opening credits, but none of them appear in those shorts.

For several years after WB started making one-shot Looney Tunes, they put Porky ( eventually and Daffy) on all the titles. He was sort of the Looney Tunes mascot.

Goes back even further than that -- Warners' always put the Looney Tunes star(s) on the title card, going all the way back to Bosko. All of the "Beans Gang" appeared on the 1935-36 season cards even when only one or two of the charcaters were in the cartoon, and when Porky was made the start of the LTs, his picture was on all of the opening title cards, even when Schelsinger gave in and started allowing "one-shot" Looney Tunes in 1941.

Daffy's growing popularity got him added to the LT title card at the start of the 1942-43 release season, and the practice of only using the image of the cartoon's star on the title cards began when the Looney Tunes went full color in 1944 (Tashlin's "I Got Plenty of Mutton" is the first LT with no character image on the opening title card).

"Puss `N Booty" was the last B&W Looney Tune, from December 1943, and it does have Porky and Daffy inside the concentric circles, even though neither are in the cartoon.

"Angel Puss" was from 1944 and has no character image in the opening LT graphics (it's also one of Chuck Jones' worst cartoons ever and deserves mention only because it's the cartoon where Schlesinger finally gave in and allowed his "supervisors" to be called "directors").
