More Drunken Fun Then A Gunful Of Bears Partying A Stairway To Heaven In The Space Ghost Coast To Coast Episode Review of "Idlewild South".

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! That shot! The shot where Moltar's in the control room and Space Ghost zooms into the camera! I hate that shot! It's so creepy and it makes my skin crawl just looking at it. I actually have to turn my eyes away everytime that shot pops up. I thought they had gotten rid of that in 1998. Stupid writers. Besides that, it was.... a fairly weak SGC2C actually. It spend a lot of time depickting the cast as drunkards, and while that was funny at first, it slowly wore thin. And I mean really thin. Highlights include Space Ghost riding the T.V screen, saying Survivor is that show where guys kill each other, SG shooting that bear, Zorak sticking that flag ins SG's back and lighting him on fire (and then drenching him off with beer) and SG descending into heaven and the bear shooting him. Otherwise, not exactly how I wanted to end the run of new SG's. I was gonna give this episode a B-, but that creepy shot just creeps me out to much. C+

Before I begin... Nin-Nin69, I love the avatar! Good to see someone using it already. Beats both the Nick Nolte and Michael Jackson mugshots! You know what to do, Conan O'Brien! :D

...Btw, he looks more like a cross between a psycho killer and Karl Marx (which, in a way, he IS!).

On to SG..... Another mix of LOL and gross. There were too many gross-outs here, though if that was beer Zorak poured on SG, that lessens it alittle... I though Z was "taking a whiz" on Tad G. (my imagination is worse than my own tastes :eek: :eek: :eek: ).

Otherwise, extremely funny, even though I'm not fond of substance abuse. If anything, it seemed like PSA against drunk driving disguised as irreverent, surrealist comedy. In any case, the gang screwing around plastered made for funny stuff.

The... er... flag planting... was funny; bad taste I don't mind (but, please, don't do it in real life; drinking and flags don't mix ;) ) Also funny that the flag followed SG into the clouds.

I loved the ending. Tad rising and talking had all the bizarreness of that C2C with the rave, the ventilator shaft and the grocery store (can't think of the title now). Seems he really is a Space ghost now! And loved the bear-ghost getting his revenge :D

The flag part was a riot. I noticed that the flag bore the Council of Doom logo on it too (A little reference to the original 60's series).

Now OK, while I don't mind the occasional "extremely weird for its own good" episode like "Flipmode", I really couldn't stand this episode. (then again, it really wasn't a good night for AS for me, huh) The only really funny part of the whole episode was watching Moltar smoking "mary-jane" while drinking Tall Boys and listening to reggae...seeing a lava man "smoke" is funny. But watching Space Ghost freak out for an entire episode before he dies twice (not to mention his "death" in the Dr. Weird segment at the start of ATHF) was just a bit too much for me.

And this season had so much promise.....

The crotch shot.... ew, of course, but I thought, showing that, it was interesting for the opening theme to be stuck in repeatmode. The female voice repeating like oddball rapture at the sight :o :D I can imagine SG saying something like, "You love it, baby, don't you".

I know I'm weird. I wasn't even bothered by all the grossout/bad taste jokes at all. And yet I am just creeped out by that shot. I don't even know why. Hey, we all have our faults right? (And By the way, it's not the closeup, but the zoom in to the closeup shot that freaks me out).

I was thinking about this when watching this episode, but I'll just say it now. It's pretty obvious these guys were pretty drunk when writing this episode. Kind of like they were "high" when writing "Flipmode" at least in my opinion. And I thought this would (originally when I first heard about it) be a more "normal" episode from the 2003 season.

It started out bad, then got better, then got worse, and ended good. The constant vomitting was just stupid, but a drunk Space Ghost was good, and Zorak also did a good job, otherwise it wasn't great.

Hmm, I thought that this episode was pretty good, but I guess your mileage varies. The best bits were SG drunk, the bear, and the ending.
