I guess the thing I notice about people is how they talk. I tend to not acknowledge people unless I have spoken with them. Secondly I notice their face. facial expression, make-up etc. Lastly I notice hair and clothes.

Height. I always think, "Is he shorter or taller than me? By how much?"

Hair (style, not length)
General appearance of face, without paying attention to details
General category of weight

I notice personality, but I will not mention details, probably because I do not have a preference and hate only one type of person: Those who throw temper tantrums for almost no reason, such as my sibling.

Well, I'm not even going to list stuff for the opposite sex. I guess that's not being balanced, but I'm not gonna even pretend I know what makes a guy noticeable.

I'm not terribly concerned about breasts... really, general body shape is more important to me than anything else. I like a shapely butt, like most guys. One of my big things with girls is having a flat (or close to flat) stomach. I can say that without feeling overly shallow, because I work damn hard to keep myself in really good shape (my workout routine would boggle your mind, accept for Joe Wagner, since he was in the military and has no doubt seen worse).

And, of course, the face is very, very important.

The 'normal' things about a girl's appearance have never really fazed me. Its a strange thing. One time at work, at night naturally, a coworker slipped over a copy of FHM's special feature, a Latino beat with a 90% naked woman copied 3 times in 3 different poses over the entire spread of the cover, one center butt shot and the left and right mirrors of each other, shifting forward as if staring at the center copy's rear. And, my reaction was only embarrassment and an attempt at an expected reply and passing it back. Luckily, he passed it to someone else who has given me a new arsenal of 'expected replies' for the possibility of a future occassion.

The whole boobs and butt thing have never... appealed? to me. I think part of it comes from an early age of reading a book I wasn't supposed to, when my mind was still very impressionable. Maybe I should put the next part in spoiler tags for virgin minds? :p Nah - Anywho, breasts, to me, are just overswelled sweat glands that produce processed sweat aka milk. Nothing more, nothing less. Tho, if they're too big, they tend to gross me out.

On other levels of appearance, however, I notice hair, mostly either long or stylistically short, and eyes, which have an indescribable nature to them on their own. Choice of clothing is always a good indicator of who they are and how they think of themselves as well.

As for personality? I have no specific elements that I find more noticable than others. Everyone has a spice of uniqueness and individuality to them that makes them stand out, and I can't speak of 'personality' without actually thinking of a specific person. That's for male and female, naturally.

For guys, its the voice I notice first and remember most, followed by how confident they act and how 'earned' said confidence seems. Via appearance, I suppose just an overall blah of their face and their height. And clothing counts the same way as well.

In the summer: Body type is the first thing I notice. If she's not slim/athletic, I'm not interested. :D After that, I notice the shape of her legs and butt. Then I look at her face.

In the winter: I notice legs and face, because that's all I can see.

On guys? Hair number one, body number two, eyes number three. Specifically, LONG hair, skinny and short body, and any color eyes, long as they're pretty.

On girls? Generally breast size and waist thickness. I'm built to be a very tall valkeryie type, including huge chest. So I'm *very* jealous of petite girls. I'm not fat, either, I just wish my ideal weight for my size was around 120 instead of 150.
