The entertainment system, on sale in Japan on December 13, is a PS2, hard disk drive, DVD recorder and TV tuner all in one. However..

But its recording speed has been cut and some audio and picture formats will not be supported, like MP3.

They might be some minor things but they do make a big difference on the whole system. It's pretty expensive as it is. Hopefully they decide to add some of these features back in when it comes to the US, if not I doubt I would go and buy it, especially since I own a PS2 already.

Comments?

Figures. There's little point in buying one now, with the much cheaper PS2 available when it comes out, and PS3 coming out a year later.

Despite its name, the target audience of the PSX isn't gamers. In fact, they were even talking about taking away the game feature altogether (but later decided not to).

Without the PS2 inside, it's little more than a glorified TiVo.

Which is probably their actual goal.
