The theme seems to be "dogs, cats, rats, and bats". The first couple of shorts and the last one feature black cats, which seem as common as mud (esp. in cartoons)--"Chaser" with an early Sylvester draft from Freleng and Mckimson's Cat in "Swallow". Avery also used a lot of black cats, notably in "King-Size Canary", "The Cuckoo Clock", and "The Cat that Hated People"...and there was Jones'/Clampett's early Claude in "Fin 'n' Catty" and "An Itch in Time".
