Okay, this is a total word of mouth rumor so I want to make it clear that I'm not putting this up in order to start a rumor.

Basically, someone I know heard that the WB was wanting to redically edit certain key eps. of the Superman TAS before it was shown again on Cartoon Network due to property damage and plane damage shown.

Bruce Timm and co. not wanting to edit the actual episodes reached some form of compromise where he would actually make *new* eps to be aired in their place, which would also "freshen the package" so to speak.

Among the episodes discussed for edit or redeux

Last Son of Krypton

Blast From the Past

Apokolips Now

Legacy

If there is any truth to this rumor or if its total BS, please let me know. As much as I would want to see new Superman eps from Bruce Timm, this is not the way I'd want it to happen.

This also makes me worry about the JLA pilot.

I don't know where you heard this but it sounds like a real whopper of a rumor to me. I sincerely doubt this. Even if WB was concerned with STAS and certain episodes they would just not show them rather then edit them. Like how FOX decided not to show the Simpsons episode where Homer's car is parked between the world trade towers. And make new episodes?? That would be impossible considering Tim Daly is no longer Superman. He's too busy with his Fugitive show. I dunno sounds like BS.

This rumors sound slike just that - a rumor. I'm sure the Paul Dini episode that will pop up this weekend at ToonZone may answer if they're working on it. WB has never gone back to fix any episodes as extensively as you described, and I doubt they will. The original crew from STAS is too spread out and it's been more than 4 years since they worked on the series. I think this is total BS.

This sounds like a rumor to me. Just about every episode had Superman and company wrecking buildings and catching airplanes. If Cartoon Network was so upset about these episodes they could just air the series late at night like they used to with Batman. This doesn't warrant a whole re-editing job. They'd shelve the series first.

Uh-oh.

By the way, I think that The Fugitive got the axe this season--Tim Daly's a free man. Too bad his old job's taken.

Yup - The Fugitive is gone. I doubt he'd come back for the 2nd season of JL, but he did a fine Superman voice. I really can't see this being done. Where did you hear this from?

I never said that the series was actually being shelved. I was just saying that it would probably be a more plausible outcome than taking the time and effort to edit episodes that had already been out for several years.

It's just a personal theory.

I hope that they don't. Some of the episodes listed above are some of my favorites (especially Blasts From the Past).

I think far too many rumors are being considered as fact since Sept 11.
