I need to know some general history about swordmaking. Here are the two in particular, the two largest swords I know of.

The Zanbatou: I was watching Kenshin earlier and I saw once of the charecters using one of these things. It said that they where originally created for killing mounted cavalry. Confirm or reject?

The Zweinheinder: Any of you who've played Namco's soul series may remember this, Sigfreid uses it. I think its of Eastern European descent, just by the name. Anyway I need some information on those.

I hope it isn't to much of a problem. It would really help with my screenplay.

Um... um.... er. I've got a sword that's supposedly a model of the Excalibur, with bronze dragons carved on the hilt. It's so blunt you can see the edge... if you wanted to do any damage with it, you'd be better off whacking people with the hilt.

But that's about it.

I know nothing about making swords, but I have studied a few sword forms. Chinese Broadsword is a really awesome form (mentioned above, if we're talking about the same thing, which I believe we are). I learned a few kata with it because my karate instructors had an interest in Kun Fu. Kind of an extra curricular thing. One of my instructors said it was too prancy and corny of a technique but the rest of us were a bit more open minded. :)

May I suggest looking up books on martial arts that focus on history. When they get to weapons they sometimes tell you how they are made and how they came about.

Well, I have a small claymore made in Pakistan that I picked up at the Medieval Fair! Don't know how to use it.

You might try plugging those names into Google and see what you get.

seigfried's sword is called a zweihander... it's some european language for "two-handed." Sword-making is a fine art...

Wish I knew more, my mother in law just loves swords and gets me a new Ninja one for my birthday and Christmas every year.
last yr she also got me a cool, small crossbow with a 50lb pull. She is very good.
I wish I knew how to handle the swords tho.

I've made a variety of weapons in the past but now I don't for various reasons. My favorite was a spiked brass knucks. I used rusty nails. Don't worry I just made them I didn't go around using them (As if you didn't expect to see my name in this thread)

I'd settle it with an old fashion weapon. The fists! That's right, the real way to fight is with fists! Swords and guns does not symbolize true fighting! Fists does!

Ah, who am I kidding here, everyone uses guns. They faster, cheaper, easier, and anyone can use them. Just pull that little trigger and you win.

Been playing alot of Skies of Arcadia hace we Err? :p

Sorry, don't know much about swords, other then zweihander is German, probably Prusian from the era you're refering to, for two hander. Sounds like a pretty big sword.

Couldn't say much about the Zanbatou. Killing mounted warriors, yeah, I guess it could have been designed with that in mind. *shrugs*
