Not too long ago, I placed a question up here regarding cartoons and performing arts. At the same time, the cartoon Rhapsody In Rivets (1941) also compares to music, but I also used it recently for a Performing Arts class.

My question is, are there any ways to make good comparisons between constructors and the orchestra, as this cartoon dictates, or can there be other ways to make great points to the kids regarding how important this music is?

The number of ways to make the point that the music is important is limited only by one's imagination. Rhapsody In Rivets is one way. Other cartoons use classical. Danny Kaye did a series of "Young People's Concerts" as did eonard Bernstein, I believe. Try and get a copy of "Fingal's Cave" (composer escapes me and I'm too lazy to look it up right now). That's a great piece to play for kids.

As for comparisons between constructors and orchestra, the animation moves in synch with the music-delibrately so.

I chatted a while back with a music teacher (elem/primary), I think, who wanted a copy of 'Curtain Calls' to use in class

just a thought
