When they get there, however, the family quickly finds that they're not alone... not when 999 grim, grinning ghosts come out to socialize! With all these happy haunts that won't leave until their unfinished business has been completed, it's up to Jim to break the curse -and rediscover a family that needs him - before the clock strikes 13.

I saw it.
Could've been better, but it could've been ALOT worse. In many ways, it reminded me of the Disney movies of the sixties, fun, but it comes with extreme doses of cheese.
Terrence Stamp was a hoot in the movie, and Eddie Murphy didn't ruin it. Don Knotts was cut out of the film. :(
The makeup designs of the zombies in one scene in the film was great, actually better than most REAL horror films lately.
The end was laugh-out-loud awful.
two and a half stars.

honestly, i'm probably gonna avoid the haunted mansion. cause i think murphy deserves better roles than these, and has had them in the past (perhaps a 3rd comeback for him is long overdue?) plus, those singing heads.. i'm scared of them , to be frank.
while pirates of the carribean is based on a very simple theme ride, bruckheimer and company did have the nerve to try to treat the subjects in the movie (pirates, and the carribean) with great respect. A bit of horror, comedy and action mixed together with great classic music was the result and a third of a billion in booty became disney's private booty. however, from what i've heard, there's no mix or dominance in this movie they couldn't find a better name than ' the haunted mansion' for, and like i said, murphy deserves better. he may have been lucky to get daddy day care but still people will know him for pluto nash in the end. he'd even have been better off in the country bears movie, our dear friend eddie murphy.
and to note, i'd rather know murphy as dr dolittle, or the nutty professor. or even axel foley , for those who can remember his earliest movies. or even gumby god____it. he made gumby COOL!
not as someone who, from even the promos, you'll wonderm, if he's on his way out into retirement land in the acting biz. or worse yet, the dial whatever number for cheaper LD phone service almost unneeded with all the internet transmissions going on lately.
now if you don't mind, i'll reminisce about the banana ice cream i had on the way to see pirates of the carribean 3 more times than i will probably ever the haunted house, which will surely grow by an exponential amount if i manage to get a dvd and pirates of the carribean within the space of a week. at least when i'm making pinball games when i'm not visiting this board, i'll help to pass the time.
..... but you didnt hear that from me on the pinball games.ssshhhh! secret!

Fun factoid: Both this and Runaway Jury were filmed in New Orleans.

I'm currently living there. When I saw Runaway Jury prweviews, one character had a Buds Broiler cup in their hand.
When exactly did you visit New Orleans?

Can someone tell me just what happens at the end? I'm not going to see the film, so I want to know what the fuss is.

Can someone tell me just what happens at the end? I'm not going to see the film, so I want to know what the fuss is.It basically has a really cheesey ending where Terrence Stamp's character goes to Hell, ala 'The Mummy Returns', all the good ghosts go to Heaven, ala 'The Frighteners', and a ghost makes out with Eddie Murphy's wife after she strikes a Jesus pose.
