I've written some fanfics using Superboy, but it's of the pre-Crisis/Earth-One version (i.e., Kal-El as a teenager, vs. the current Clone Boy or "Smallville"'s Pretty Boy versions ;-) ).
Those stories include:
"Brain's Mission For President Reagan": In the late 1980's, Superboy teams up with Brain, Billie and Pinky to stop sabotage of a space shuttle mission.
"A Very Wakko Thanksgiving": Superboy is pulled out of the past into the present as part of Stewie Griffin's evil schemes.
"Saturday Morning Fever": In the late 70's, Brain, Pinky and Billie turn the lab into a disco night club. A very young Superboy puts in a cameo appearance.
"To Superboy On His 21st Birthday": Written this summer. While in college, the 21-year-old Boy of Steel finally becomes the Man of Steel, thanks to another trio of lab mice...
All of the above stories use elements from the PatB episode "Two Mice and a Baby" and the old Superboy comics (though Maggie Sawyer and Turpin, but not LexCorp, put in appearances in "21st Birthday"). Dates/ages abide by pre-Crisis/Earth-One continuity ("Two Mice"'s version of Superman is pretty clearly the Earth-One version), i.e. Superman is perpetually 29 or 30 in the present...
All (except for "21st") can be found in the Toonzone Fanfic Archives; enjoy...

Sounds cool.
I'm more into the current version of Superboy, Kon-El, Conner Kent. I've waited a long time for DC to finally give him that true connection to Superman and to bring him to the point where I can see him as the next Superman (Although that will never happen).

All the more reason I liked the old Superboy---since he *was* a younger Superman (though the current version's OK too...probably that and Steel the only redeeming factors to come from that "Death of Superman" plotline). :-)
That, and the other excuse to go full-tilt with Superboy stories being that Pinky and Brain clearly met the pre-Crisis, Earth-One version of Supes (i.e., Krypton and Kal's rocket were shown as the Silver Age versions, Kal had his powers from the moment he landed on Earth and met the mice, no "birthing matrix"/"sent to Earth as a fetus" junk, etc.). Though I did, as mentioned before, throw in Maggie Sawyer and Turpin (two characters created by Byrne, and weren't around pre-Crisis). So, there you go... :D
