Watching the "Blanc Expressions" segment on the Golden Collection had me wondering, how come WB never got Noel to do the LT voices? I mean sure, no one (not even his son) can ever replace Mel, but Noel seems to do the voices as good if not better than the voice actors who do it now. I'd also enjoy seeing the Blanc name back in the credits again.

IIRC, they tried passing the torch to Noel after Mel died, but he just didn't do a good enough job with the voices. He did a good Tweety, and an alright Porky, but (again, IIRC) that's about it. Then Jeff Bergman came along and he took most of the voices (until he got fired).

I don't seem to recall Noel doing anything other than a few guest shots on Tiny Toons as Porky (which as I recall, sounded pretty close to his dad's).

I've heard him do brief bits as Bugs, and it sounded better than anyone who's tried to do Bugs post-Mel....

Why was Jeff Bergman fired?

"Why was Jeff Bergman fired?"

He supposedly had a big ego.

It turns out also that Mel was a big car freak. I was watching Meguiar's Car Crazy, and saw a thing about Noel talking about his father's car collection. Interesting indeed.

That's interesting info about Bergman. I didn't know he was fired. I just thought he didn't want to do voice work anymore or something. That's a shame, because his voices do come sort of close to Mel's.

Jeff Bergman was fired because (from what I was told) he appeared on talk shows talking about how he's doing the voices for the Looney Tunes now, and WB didn't like that so they fired him (which doesn't make any sense, cause I could have sworn Billy West had done the same thing shortly after Space Jam was released).

Why was Jeff Bergman fired?

When WB hired him, they told him not to tell people he was "the new Mel Blanc," because it would be disrespectful, especially considering Mel had died fairly recently. Yet, in press interviews, that's how Bergman pitched himself. So WB (after I believe they warned him once) let him go.

Just another thing I want to add here. Didn't Bergman voice Warner Bros. characters on that Anvil Award's Show last year? I know he's been the voice of Fred Flintstone most recently and if I'm not mistaken Warner Bros. owns the Flinstones now. I'm sort of confused about that.

I think in those cases Bergman was hired by Cartoon Network and not Warner Bros. Animation. So yeah, it's the same company, but a different division that had nothing to do with his previous dismissal.

I see. That's understandable.
