They are discussed occasionally, there are several threads in the archives, but it's one of those series many of us have not seen entirely (I've seen four, but I plan to eventually get that two video Snafu collection). Cartoon Network ran an edited print of "Spies", and an edited print of one of the Hook shorts on its "Lost Cartoon Special", but other than that, those little gems receive NO airtime, they would fit in perfectly on Late Nite Black and White, though.

I keep wishing they'd do a toonheads special devoted to them.
You think all the hoopla over this new "Pearl Harbor" movie could make the suits at CN think that now's the time to show 'em - they could cash in on the "WWII" wave so to speak?

FWIW, if anyone wants to see a few Snafus or Hooks, Brian has a trio of each of these on his LT&MM The Early Years - Other Videos page (http://www.toonzone.net/early-years/video/other.html)

I thought "Spies" only had some music re-dubbed in one scene..

It did, if I recall correctly "Powerhouse" of all things was removed. It is believed Cartoon Network did not have the broadcasting rights for that version (yes, even though they use it in all almost of their commercial break bumpers).

That special was not the best way to present those cartoons (which is why I'm being very cautious as to how this throw-'em-a-bone "12 Missing Hares" special will turn out). Jerry Beck hinted on his site back when that special aired that he was hoping to talk Warner into a home video release with all of the cartoons in tact. It amazes me that Warner does not see the value of their own films and wouldn't have thought of this on their own.

And on a side note, I received the new TV Guide with the June Bugs article. It was really comforting to read that the TV Guide staff was treated to a private screening of the pulled cartoons. It's nice to know that Warner Bros. seems determined to present these "unviewable" cartoons to almost everyone EXCEPT the actual fans.

There's something rotten in the state of...

Happy Dave~

The Snafus as a whole are verrrrry funny and entertaining (I have 'em all). It's a cryin' shame to NOT broadcast these little comedic gems from Dr. Seuss teamed with Jones, Freleng, Clampett and Tashlin. To my knowledge they've never been run as a series on any TV channel. A couple were made by the infant UPA, and another by ex-MGM director George Gordon while employed by Hugh Harman. But those three would possibly not interest the Warner-ites... Of course that completed but UNFILMED Hanna-Barbera MGM one would interest everybody, if anybody knew where all the animation art had gone...
