The Best of Dr. Seuss on DVD arrived today. I pre-ordered it hoping to get "Horton" uncut again and it's intact and restored! (The kids wrecked my old VHS copy. http://forums.toonzone.net/images/smilies/mad.gif) It's still got the Blue Ribbon opening, just in case you wondered. Thought I'd let you guys who are looking for uncensored shorts know!
Dave
If you can, could you post some images to see how it looks? Specially the edited scene with the suicide.

I'll do it when I get home tonight. I've only got a few minutes left for lunch.

Does this DVD have the most overplayed/used Private SNAFU cartoon "Spies" like said in many reports?

"Spies" wasn't on this one, it was supposed to be on the In Search of Dr. Seuss DVD.
I'm not sure if it is or not...

Here's some frame grabs from the DVD...
http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/aacfde53/bc/davesonline/__hr_/Horton1.jpg?BCprvv_ARUEDIBNa
http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/aacfde53/bc/davesonline/__hr_/Horton2.jpg?BCprvv_ADXRCugbN
http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/aacfde53/bc/davesonline/__hr_/Horton4.jpg?BCprvv_AQEaM6cve
And most importantly...

I had to rip the cartoon to avi first. The direct DVD grabs were in the wrong colors! So the resolution isn't quite as good as possible. "Horton" looks every bit as good as the shorts on The Golden Collection.
Sorry for the delay,
Dave

Drat. They probably work for me because I've got the right cookie on my computer. I'll try something else.
Try it again...My online album was somehow set to Private instead of Public mode.
Could sombody try the links again or this one: http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/davecgates/lst?.dir=/davesonline
and tell me if they work now?
Thanx

That link worked for me. But in case it doesn't work for other people, I saved copies of the pictures and uploaded them to the folder that had been created for the Yankee Doodle Daffy and Bugs Bunny Gets the Boid screenshots made a while back: http://lantz.toonzone.net/lt-restored/ But let me know if you don't want them there and I'll remove them.
The cartoon looks very pretty judging from those screenshots  . Thanks for sharing them with us. :bosko:

Hey thanks, Jack! Don't worry about having the pics on your site. It's not as if I can copyright them anyway! http://forums.toonzone.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Heck, people steal avatars all the time and it goes unpunished!

WOW, those pictures from "Horton Hatches the Egg" look amazing! It's too bad I don't want to buy the BEST OF DR. SEUSS DVD just to have that cartoon...:(

HORTON will be on the GOLDEN COLLECTION Volume Two.
HORTON will be on the GOLDEN COLLECTION Volume Two.
Wow! The first LT:GC2 revelation! Thanks Jerry! :)
However, does that mean that "Horton" will not have its original titles?
HORTON will be on the GOLDEN COLLECTION Volume Two.
I actually expected that. I also guess that "Falling Hare" will be on Wave 2.
HORTON will be on the GOLDEN COLLECTION Volume Two.
What else will be? Is there a link to find out?
