Hey guys, it's Tommy Pickles again! I've got another super-rare Disney cartoon for you all to enjoy. It's called "Commando Duck" and has our hero Donald fighting the Japanese in World War II. Just like with the last few files I posted, I only have a large version of this cartoon. Also, the cartoon has German subtitles on it. Sorry about that! Anyway, here it is:
Commando Duck (11.09MB):

Thanks a lot, Goopy, for providing that cartoon, which I enjoyed very much, being a donaldist and member of D.O.N.A.L.D. by heart. However, may I ask where you got that film from? The German subtitles may lead towards a German speaking country (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), but I am almost sure it has never been aired on TV. Rumors are that there's been a video cassette for sale long ago, but I've never seen that. However; I'd rather expect that this version would have been dubbed German (or not even so) instead of bearing subtitles.

Hi Wundermild. The person who sent me the file (I didn't make it myself) says that it came from rental tapes Disney put out in Germany in the 80s. There was a TV special with John Candy and Donald Duck that showed part of this cartoon, but all the Japanese were cut out. This is probably the only uncut copy ever put on video in the whole world!

Yes, "Commado Duck" was released on a german rental tape named "Donald's 50 verrueckte Jahre" (Donald's 50 crazy years) in 1984. I bought this tape a few months ago at Ebay and it have the same subtitles like Tommys version.
I'm very confused why Disney put a uncut copy of this cartoon on a german tape. Also there were just a few cartoons with subtitles, normally the cartoons in the 80ies were dubbed german or has the originally soundtrack without subtitles. (since 1989 all Disney cartoons are dubbed). This tape included 12 cartoons: 4 were dubbed german, 6 have its original soundtrack without subtitles, 2 were subtitled.
See here (http://www.duck-film.de/video/indexcar.htm) for a guide of the german Disney cartoon tapes from the 80ies.
BTW: Until 1989 Donald's voice wasn't dubbed in germany, with exception of "Three Caballeros" and "Mickey's Christmas Carol", where Clarence Nash spoke the german dialog (and its very very difficult to understand what he say).
