View Full Version : WORLD'S FINEST - BRAND NEW WEBSITE! (Talkback)

The Flash

The World's Finest (http://wf.toonzone.net/) has gone through yet another major change! Brand new graphics, including an all new 3D tower menu, all new animated tower tops and bottoms, brand new logo, and new and improved backgrounds. But that's not all, it also got a massive bombardment of site content. Including the first ever public viewing of the Batman: The Animated Series Writer's Bible! Also we rolled up the curtain on two new sections. Releases, which highlights DVDs, CDs, VHS, and books. As well as our first ever set of wallpapers, in the downloads section.

Once you've checked it out let us know what you think by posting here!

Well.. I guess I get to be the first one to post!! The site looks great. Love the new animated tops and bottoms.

My only problem is the screen size. I know in redoing my site, it was hard to try and fit everything into the 800X600 screen. But thats what makes each site so diffrent and enjoyable.

I'll check out more later!!

Very nice revamp - to be honest, I was never a fan of the previous layout, which felt a little too cluttered and confusing compared to the one before it. However, the revamp fixes many of the problems, and looks sharper, crisper, and even more professional than it did before. Putting the major shows in a row across the top instead of on the top and down the right side feels much cleaner.

I'll post more as I browse through the site, but one thing I did notice was that the review of "Twilight" has been changed - I don't know if this was done w/the revamp or before it, but it much more accurately reflects the general fan consensus as opposed to the less than positive 1st review (w/all respects to the original author and their opinion).

you know, I really like the additon of the writer's bible.

My only problems are

A: it's hard to read at that size

B: the site stamp makes it even harder to read

I totally understand your desire to stamp each pic, but could you do it lighter? I can't even read half of the info!

Otherwise, it all looks great.

Great job, guys. It's about time that someone posted the BTAS bible somewhere online. Now, if only I could get my hands on the STAS and JL bibles!

Nice job. I've read through the bible, and even found me a new easter egg. I won't say anything about it, other than it shows that an incredible amount of work went into it.

Are the characters on top of the building seemed smaller than last time? They seem it.

It was cool seeing the alternate designs, most of which I am glad never made it into the series. Robin and Talia looked cool, Riddler, Joker and Ra's looked daft. It's odvious the censors got to some of them (Catwoman, Talia, Gordon and Bullock come to mind). It was also nice to read a little about the background info on The Penguin. Didn't know any of that.

Very nice job. But, me being me, how many easter eggs does the site have all together now boys?

Looks great. Very impressive. I recall Flash talking about the tower on the console - I never imagined we'd actually get to see Officer Bob at the bottom - or the Batmobile. Fantastic. Looks good and interface has been improved.

Well done!

Wow! I can't really think of anything to say besides that. The nw layout is beautiful, and the 3D imaging looks spectacular. It's like I'm rediscovering the site all over again. The BTAS Writers Bible is awesome, and the new section layout are just great! Great work! This site is the best!

Edited for language.

Color me impressed. Nice to see that everything is organized and streamlined into more efficient categories with the "major" shows at the top, since everything was sort of sprawling out before. It is also good to see that nothing has been cut out (not even my beloved Lobo... I was afraid he was gonna get the axe) but rather everything has just been organized more efficiently... I still really miss the old "Double Takes" section. Also, I'm really digging the whole "tower" motif, and the way that the splash page, tower menu, and wallpapers are all derived from the same WF tower gives a nice feeling of stability and consistency to the website. The little Officer Bob, Batmobile, Livewire/Superman scene, and normal tower scene are all cute little touches, and I'm also diggin the additional little icons at the top (the "Teen Titans" and some of the other new ones are nice additions... were some old ones eliminated, though?). Great job Flash.

As far as the new sections (and the easter egg) are concerned, they're all absolutely astounding! Mad props to Bird Boy for the extensive "Releases" section which must have taken forever to compile, and all of the other hard work involved in tightening up the website in general. But damn, the biggest and coolest surprise would have to be the Batman: The Animated Series Writers' Bible. Nice insight into what was already talked about a little in Batman: Animated in terms of what set BTAS apart from other shows, and a lot of the techniques detailed verbally state the kinds of things that a lot of the writers at the World's Finest Fanfiction Forum (http://) already employ in their writing. Still, it still could prove to be a great reference with all of this otherwise implied stuff stated explicitly.

Seeing as I was not the one in charge of the descision to make the switch, its not my place to comment on that, but as the review author I appreciate the feedback. :)

Ooooohhhh I really like it. The overall sight design is much cleaner and more stylized. The 3-D tower is fantastic and I love Livewire beating up on Supes and the Batmobile going by at the bottom. Even Officer Bob snuk himself in.

The BTAS Writers Bible wow. I do have a complaint though, it's so small I can't hardly read it and couldn't the WF Stamp be up in the corner or something where it didn't cover up text? I hate to be a whiner but still.

The Twilight review: It's changed. BOORAH! Nice review Steel, thumbs up. :D

I love the brand new website you have made here. It looks more improved and unique than before. Keep up the good work. I love the downloads section. I put a Batman wallpaper on my desktop because I am a Batman Animated fan, you know.

The site looks a lot sleeker. I love the "Did you know?" addition and the WF building on the front page but I can't figure out why there is a picture of Batman Beyond and not a Teen Titan. If the Teen Titan section is visited the most wouldn't it make sense to put a Teen Titan on the front page?

If you mean on the main page (not main.php, but just http://wf.toonzone.net/), there IS a Titan--it's Robin, to the right of Wonder Woman. Roll your mouse over it and a logo will appear... :)

(and yes, we know the characters don't lead to their own sections--Flash wanted it to lead to main.php so people saw all of the site. :))

Thanks for all the kind comments guys--as for the Static Shock (and Zeta and Spawn sections for that matter), we plan to have something whipped up for all three sometime in very early 2008.....

...I kid! I kid! 2004. :p

Oh wow;

Sorry that I missed this at first. There's even Superman and Batgirl. Great job on the site there is more than I expected.

Well done, not just on the updates but on the site in general. The 'building/tower' idea is a good one that could be expanded on. 'Ding, Level 3, Batman Animated Series and New Batman Adventures....' or something.

What other kinds of changes are planned for the near future? One thing you should look at doing is updating the screen grabs for the first series of JL. Maybe even MP3's, but that is one thing I have to ask an authoritative type around here - there's mention of a GL MP3 in one of the Series One reviews, but where is it? I know the last few reviews of Series Two reviews have them, but hopefully you know what I'm asking.

I heard they're gonna finish the Lobo reviews and revamp the Teen Titans bios, as well as add some more rants/essays... eventually.

Also, once things with the current series cool down I heard a Spawn section might undergo development.

The first two JL Season 1 episodes, Secret Origins and In Blackest Night, both had MP3s done by The Flash. At the time, they were removed because of bandwidth--now, obviously, we have more bandwidth, but I lost the MP3s. Whenever Flash show's up again, I'll ask him to re-upload them, and I'll get them added to the pages as soon as I can.

Re-screengrabbing the first season of JL is always something I wanted to do, and probably still will, I just want to wait for the DVDs to come out--that way I'll have the highest quality screens available and I won't have to do it multiple times.
