View Full Version : Most Improved Cartoon
What would you say is the most improved cartoon on the Golden Collection? What one is the best looking when compared to the old copy airing on TV?

Probably "Elmer's Candid Camera"

I think all the pre 48's on the set. Elmer's Candid Camera stands out quite a bit compared to it's Turner print featured on GAOLT 2. Yankee Doodle Daffy looks like it was made yesterday when viewed next to it's public domain print. This set is awesome, and i'm really excited about seeing more issued to DVD. Hopefully soon. I will be crossing my fingers that WB greenlights future sets.

All of the pre-1948 cartoons are vastly improved... Tortoise Wins By a Hare loses the brown haze and the tight framing...

They all look better! Except Baseball Bugs and Yankee Doodle Daffy. They're too sharp which brought out the film grain. Also, they didn't touch up the stuff that got caught in the gate, like eyelashes or other small particles. My most improved vote is Dough for the Do-Do.
Like the Toon Heads staff said, it's all about preservation, and WB didn't respect this for years, now there paying the price.

All of the A.A.P./UA/Turner owned titles look fantastic... Particularly "Wabbit Twouble" and "Haredevil Hare". Compare these two...

There's only really a few post-48s that stick out to me... "Fast & Furry-Ous" and "Frigid Hare" are two that I think they did a GREAT job restoring...
Here's another comparison:
