What season does the movie take place? I heard it was after season 3. Thanks.

The movie takes place a year before Season 3.

Ok here's the run down:

Transformers:

Seasons 1 & 2 - Years 1984 & 1985

Transformers: The Movie:

After Season 2, Before Season 3 - Year 2005

Transformers: 2010:

Season 3 - Year 2010

Transformers: Headmasters:*

Season 4 - Year 2011

*This was the last season of the Original Transformers which only aired in Japan. A small 3-part episode mini-season was made for the US instead.

That must have been one long year between the movie and S3. "Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1" says it's been a year since Unicron was defeated.

The Japanes dub of season 3 takes place in 2010 instead of 2006. Presumably, the movie takes place later as well in Japan, but I can't say for certain.
