Didn't they already show "Foxy Magoo" or is that another title I'm thinking of.

This cartoon was a sequel to "Fox Pass", a Waldo & Prezley cartoon that aired a couple weeks ago. One of them even makes a comment how the place they are camping at looks familiar. Waldo and Prez encounter the Fox from "Fox Pass" again, while Magoo goes off and looks for some fire wood.

I have been really enjoying the cartoons so far. The character designs, voices, and music is great. They also have wonderful stylish UPA backgrounds. The cartoons are short and funny, and the voice cast is amazing (Jim Backus, Mel Blanc, Bea Benaderet, Dal McKennon, June Foray). The humor in some cartoons is definitely more in the style of Looney Tunes than the typical UPA production (especially the cartoons with Hamlet).
I am glad Boomerang picked it up.

Jon, I totally agree with you a hundred percent, about the 1960 tv Magoo cartoons.I think that the animation is very good(for a cheaply produced series) for that period of made for televison cartoons and the humor is top notch, along with excellent dialog from from the talented voice actors, including Daws Butler who voices Hamlet and other characters. The tv Magoo cartoons can easily hold their ground to the theatrcial Magoo cartoons and Backus adds more depth to Magoo in the tv series which makes him even funnier in the tv series.Even though we haven't seen Charlie, the supporting characters are very funny, including the shorts featuring "Hamlet and Cicero" are among my personal favorites along with "Waldo and Presley".The one thing I did notice is that they (UPA productions)used the same muscial soundtrack in the Larry Harmon tv verison of the Popeye cartoons during that same year, as I believe that the cartoons were made at the Larry Harmon cartoon studios through UPA productions.
I too, am so glad that Boomerang picked up this great cartoon series and Classic Media has done a fantastic job in fully restoring and digitally remastering the cartoons, as I have to tip my hatt off to them big time.
If you don't have Boomerang yet, then please get that channel and enjoy the Mr.Magoo cartoons all over again. ;) ;) ;) :)

I never realized how many voices Mel Blanc did on these Magoo cartoons. He's in almost every cartoon. He's great as Magoo's uncle Tycoon Magoo ("Uncle Ty" as Magoo calls him) and Tycoon's butler, Worcestershire. Blanc's english butler voice cracks me up.
I thought one of yesterday's cartoons, "People Are a Scream", was hilarious. :D

Yes you are right, my dear turtle friend about that and I think the reason was that when I was a kid I used to watch the tv Magoo cartoons(in the early 80s) and I wanted to own the theatrical Magoo shorts first.I can say that I love the 1960 tv verison of Magoo and they are really funny to watch.By chance Tim, do you have the Magoo shorts that feature Charlie undubbed?

The best answer I can give right now is "maybe"... Some tapes have been literally stored away for several years and I can't remember what-the-heck's on 'em (my infamous "uncatalogued"). The Magoo's used to air here on the same great program with the Warner & MGMs so some of them might still be lurking on my buried tapes... Sorry not sure! If/when I find anything I'll let you know. Take care!

-JonAnd I'm glad by the way that we have Boomerang at least my mom and dad's giant TV screen just a few rooms away..I didn't knoiw Bea Benaderet was a voice in UPA'sd toons. The sound FX in these were both the later Hanna Barbera and the already used Ward and sometimes original UPA SFX (as Howard Fein has pointed out on rec.arts.animation).
