I've always wondered about one scene in this Tom & Jerry cartoon ever since I watched it for the first time. The scene in question is where Tom sticks his head up at the side of the table, wearing one of those metal dining-plate covers. Jerry runs into Tom's mouth, realises where he is, and runs out a split second before Tom shuts his mouth. As he comes out, he pulls Tom's tongue out so that Tom bites it.
Now at this point it looks like Jerry is going to pull on the tongue so it snaps off. But it doesn't - in fact there's a rather abrupt change to Tom's tongue only slightly sticking out of his teeth!
I wonder what happened there? Perhaps they originally wanted Tom's tongue to snap off, but changed it at the last minute (when some of the animation was already done)?
I've watched it in slow motion, and it does appear that Jerry lets go of the tongue so it snaps back into Tom's face - but it still seems rather abrupt!
