While watching SHE WAS AN ACROBAT'S DAUGHTER last night/early this morning, I saw that they had a sing along at the theater where the audience was singing along to the cartoon title's song. This also ocurred in BOSKO'S PICTURE SHOW when the audience members sang along to "We're in the Money."
Apparently movie theaters did this in the old days.

Paramount did an entire series of "Sing-A-Long" cartoons, entitled SCREEN SONGS (it got renamed KARTUNES in 1951).

I don't know if this counts, but the "Woodland Community" sings "The Woods Are Full of Cuckoos" in the cartoon of the same name.

Actually it was first the Cartune, then Screen songs.

Actually, what I was asking was if movie theaters had an organist play music and the people in the audience would sing along to a certain song before the feature film began. I'm not talking about sing-along cartoons.

Yes, back in the silent days, the sing-along was a big part of the program. It would be a slide (or series of slides) projected onto the screen with the song lyrics printed on it, and the audience would sing along with the organist prior to the feature film. I've seen these slides, along with advertising slides, pop up on ebay every now and then. Of course the Fleischers soon took it to the next level with their animated sing-alongs.
