Over the past months, many bad things have been said about this movie by so-called "insiders," including that production halted to fix the script, the movie's animation was taking too long, the script is awful, and other things. However, Animated Movies (http://animated-movies.squareworld.com/News.html) posted some positive comments on the movie:

'Sir Farticus' caught a screening of the Warner Bros movie earlier this week "and I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. I saw a screening back in July, and this screening was 10 fold better. The only real thing that bugged me was a CG dog at the end of the film, not many people seem to be real crazy about that one. Not sure whose idea that was... But honestly, I think this is most likely the closest we'll get to the Looney Tunes without resurrecting Chuck Jones or Bob Clampet or one of those guys. And once again, it's because of Eric Goldberg, ladies and gentlemen! The screening had me laughing out loud, which is tough to do. Steve Martin rules in the film, most of the jokes do really well, there's even a nice little semi-emotional moment with Daffy. The color on the characters looks really really nice! Some might say it's a little overtoned, but I think it fits. I predict that people will think it's CG because of how much form the 'Lumo' program gives them. The program takes the clean-ups and basis that off of where the shadows and highlights will be. As a whole I was very pleased--I really hope it does well, 2D needs a hit!"
And today, another item was posted:

'Sir Farticus' confirms that the nearly final version of the WB movie is a lot funnier than previously reported. "The screening in July [had] embarrassingly bad humor. But they really turned it around. The other amazing thing in the film is the Louvre sequence, where Bugs and Daffy are chased by Elmer through the Louvre. As they jump in and out of several famous paintings, they adapt to the style in which the painting was made; i.e. pointelism, and other styles. It looked incredible! I think it's something the animation community is gonna rave about!"

I'm glad that there are some positive things being said about the movie. Now I'm even more curious than before about what it will look like and how the characters will compare to how they were in the orignal cartoons.

I really want to like this movie, but then again if it does well it will probably trigger even more productions like "Race-Jam."

I had always hoped that Back In Action Would be better then Space Jam, and this is just another example why. Hopefully, they'll be able to fix the CG at the end a bit, but that's a minor complaint, from me anyway.

Given the pack mentality mindset in Hollywood these days and the current conventional wisdom about animation, if the movie's a success, they'll probably think it must be because of that CGI dog and Warner's will spin him off into his own feature film for 2005...

I'm looking foward to seeing that Louvre sequence; it sounds like a creative and interesting idea.

It sounds like an episode of Courage the Dog ....

p.s. did anyone else see the news on the feature length remake of Goofy Groceries ?

An episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog that kicked ass

The thing is, when Courage did it, the artwork style of the characters didn't change when they went into the pictures. It will be interesting to see Bugs and Daffy portrayed in different artistic styles.

That does sound like it'll be better than Space Jam. However, as good as the "Louvre" idea sounds, I can't help but think we've seen something like that before....

though those characters don't go in and out of the actual paintings, they just affect them.

...while Bugs and "Gossamer" went in and out of paintings (or through the canvas, depending on who was doing the eye-poking) in "Hare-Raising Hare."

What it reminds ME of, is the pieces done by Chuck Jones (as seen in "Chuck Reducks" and I'm sure elsewhere) that reimagine classic Warner characters as paintings by Chagall, Munch, Van Gogh, etc.

Watching "Louvre Come Back to Me" recently made me think it was a precursor to those pieces, as well.

I hope Marvin doesn't get injured in this film, just like in Space Jam, when Bupkiss punched Marvin right out of the rest of the cartoon!

I edited my print of Space Jam with Windows Movie Maker so after that tragedy comes the Vitaphone 1968 W7 end titles!
