Palisades Toys has a series of Pink Panther action figures in the works based on the classic Depatie-Freleng designs. Series 1 will include Pink Panther, The Inspector, The Ant and the Aardvark, and The Man.
I can't wait to get the Ant & Aardvark set!! :D

yeah.
BTW, I'll bet these "Pink Panther" action figures is to celebrate the 40th anniversary of our favorite pink cat.
He first appeared in the opening of Blake Edwards' famous movie "Pink Panther" in 1963, and finally got his own series December of 1964. ("The Pink Phink" - Freleng/Pratt)
I hope MGM/UA gets sane enough to release a "Pink Panther" DVD (the better one, with "Inspector", "Ant and Aardvark" and all other DFE theatrical toons). Needless to say, the "Jet Pink" DVD was a dissapointment.

To quote Ken Lilly of the Palisades company, "Anything is Possible" :brain: :narf:
I did submit an idea figure on the forum based on the cartoon "Pink S*W*A*T*"
I'd love to see that made...

It's a bit sketchy, but everything was painstakingly refferenced!

hi. I like the sketch. That removable frog head looks alittle like El Toro, except without a sombrero.

Thanks... the head is actually EXACTLY like the one he wore on that episode. Since it (pink Swat) was made after the Tijuana/Texas Toads cartoons, they probably recycled the head...
Ken Lilly has loose talk of having a Green Aardvark chase varient, much like the Zoots, Rizzos, and such in the Muppet line.

Series one has been broken down...
Ok here's the rundown on the accessories, no problem giving you a list.
Pink Panther:
Top Hat
Cane
Removable Bow Tie
Pith Helmet
Camera
Figure Base (and yes it will be pink)
Clouseau:
Attache Case
Magnifying Glass
Newspaper with Panther headline
Top Secret Folder
Bomb
Figure Base
The Man:
Painter's Hat
Construction Worker's Hat
Paint Bucket
Paint Brush
Figure Base
Aardvark:
Charlie
Figure Base
Yeah Aardvark doesn't have much...and yet he is STILL the leader in costs at the factory. He's really wide.
One further thing to note. Don't expect a Muppets thing going on here. The figures look great, but the characters are much more difficult to articulate than a Muppets figures. Expect articulation to be somewhat limited. I think the line will be strong visually and a good series, but some of the arms are SO teeny and the shapes so odd that there is a lot less to work with than, say a Zoot figure or any others.
And as for exclusives..
About exclusives/incentives:
A pink-paint splattered The Man is gonna be an industry incentive at some point. A Green Aardvark is very likely in the case. A "blown-up" Clouseau repaint will either be a small run exclusive or in the case. And a Tuxedo 40th Anniversary Pink Panther will be an exclusive to a major retailer (we hope).
All this is still in development, so all is subject to change.
All this From Ken Lilly of Palisades!

ahh...yes. the Green Aardvark. Didn't he only appeared in two cartoons? ("I've Got Ants in my Plans" and "Odd Ant Out".)

I think this one is probably desinged for the movie sequences, since I never saw it as a cartoon... this is probably the one that MGM approved!

Yeah. That's the version of the Inspector from the movie title sequences. I was hoping they were going to make a figure of the version of the Inspector from the cartoons. The Inspector PEZ dispenser (not available in the USA) used the cartoon model: http://www.fides.dti.ne.jp/~yutapez/images/pez/pinkpanteher/clouseau.jpg

They had to make it this way no thanks to those Style guides...
The smarty in marketing had to go and use the opening title Inspector... even though the classic one was used on the cover of the "Prehistoric Pink" video. Dispite that, I am really looking foward to him.

The Man
Is that what that critter is called? I've been watching Pink Panther cartoons for almost 40 years and I have never known that!

These are what the figures look like in their early stages....
Blister mock ups (http://palisadestoys.com/Forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=169589)
And Instead of the Green Aardvark chase varient, they have decided on a "Vacation Aardvark" which wears a Hawaiian Shirt, and also a Blown Up Inspector varient... :tomcat: :jerry:
