September All-Stars Competition Announcement

The staff were a little disappointed that we missed Toon Zone's birthday, but we are in time for the hosted site World's Finest's 5th birthday! Since Batman and co play such a massive creative input here, we'd like to design something for WF - All Star style! :p

The word hasn't been chosen yet, and I'm not sure which staff member will look after the thread.. but you know the drill.

However we want this up by the end of September so I'm giving just TWO WEEKS

If you can't make that time slot DON'T SIGN UP. This is the birthday month so I want it up for it's Birthday.

Anyone who missed out last month gets priority. I'll give to the end of this weekend for sign ups then we head on.

Sorry for the rush, the last one has gone way over deadline so we must rush on this.

I agree with SJJ - we don't want this one going on forever and ever. That's not to say the August one is dragging on for too long - a small delay was anticipated, but by far and large most people got their pieces in well ahead of time.

Yeah it was a typo - although I wish it was sarcasm, that would be a nifty use of the lowest but most enjoyable form of irony.

Yes it will be letters. We'll see how many people before setting them. What I or another staff member will do will assign letters on Monday - that way we get past that slow stage of people picking. I know it's a bit controlling, but it's the only way we can speed things up - this is a one off in so far as we are really rushing and I want to keep to schedule.

I'll stay out of this unless we have people unable to meet the deadline.

I'm going to be tough on this one, if you don't meet the deadline which will be announced Mon/Sun then you are out, the staff will do the pic in your place. I know it's cruel, but we can't afford to be held back on this. No hard feelings, this is what it's like in the art world. No extensions! Again, bear this in mind when you sign up!

The set-up of this collaboration is as follows:

Us mods will come up with a slogan or phrase in the same vein as the selected theme of this month - that theme is the 5th anniversary of the WORLD'S FINEST site that TOON ZONE is hosting. After that phrase is selected, everyone that wants to participate will select a letter from that phrase and illustrate it however they want - and, at the same time, involving a DCAU character.

It's fun, it's easy, and everyone is welcome. :)

(Assuming there are enough places, I don't want to edge out anyone who wanted in on the summer jam and missed it.)

I'm happy with the assigning letters but what about characters? Will they be assigned too in order to prevent the 13 Batmen and a Joker scenario or will you do a first come first serve? I'm only wondering as the picking n choosing is time consuming too and I wouldn't actually mind the character allocation if this was the case for those of us dithering about who to do (ie me) unless I can come up with something suitable *fret fret fret* :D

I agree, since we're using only DCAU characters here, maybe we should make our selections public this time around. There are still plenty to choose from, but it would get a little tedious if we got 10 Batmen and 10 Supermen in this collaboration. :p

Just to bring your fatigued self and any new un's to the thread up to speed, we'll assign letters this time - probably sunday or monday night -to pick up the pace to the deadline (although since you're staff you'll probably be involved in that process anyway)..

Secondly, this will be for WF not TZ - DCAU is the theme based on it being WF's b'day coming up. We missed TZ! :( (That's still bugging me - why didn't we think of that in Aug!!!!). Since it's DCAU, I'd say you have an obligation to be a part of this Barb and I can only think of two characters who fit you more than any others... :)

That's okay. I have 30 things on the mind at the moment so I'm a little flakey - I'm happy with either Dick or Babs - no need to worry on that you have Tim.

As of now, the time for entering is over. We have 13 people committed, so we know for sure we can get Worlds Finest 5 done. If one more person joins, we can get the exclamation point in there. Please, only do this if you can get the letter in fast. You'll only have two weeks to do this. The deadline will be Sunday, September 21st. There will be no deadline extensions for this. We can't afford to be off on this, so please, DO NOT ENTER if you can't get this submitted by the 21st. You'll only ruin it for everyone else, delay the whole event, and I doubt anyone wants to be that person. I'd like to have this up for the full last week of September, so the deadline must be the 21st. It gives artists two weeks to complete the pic, and only gives SJJ a mere two days to throw everything together.

As of now, no letters have been assigned, and Bic still needs to decide on a character. Tim needs to pick just either Two Face or Joker, not both. The characters taken thus far are:

Everyone knows who has what, if you've changed your character, please let me know ASAP because I'm already thinking about who will get what letter based on the characters that have been chosen so far. I will officially close the time for joining this All Star by 10pm tonight, pacific time. So 1am for all you east coasters. We can only allow one more person, if any, but no more than that. Letters will be assigned after the time for entering this event is closed, approx. by about 11pm is when I can get the letter assignments up.
