Everyone knows how Disney's dumping their Animation department?

While everybody is pissed because Disney has potential and pulls this crap, I just thought of something...

I'm not so sure. Last time I checked, they had countless sequels lined up for release. I hope you're right, though...

Last I read, they were dumping the _feature_ animation department. The television division should still be operating, and that's where most of the cheapquels get produced. Unless they were planning to go all 3D everywhere?

Most of the DTV sequels come from the DisneyToon Studios, a division of Disney Feature Animation. There are exceptions -- Stitch! The Movie, for instance, was produced by the Television Animation division, since it's essentially an episode from the upcoming TV series.

Correction: Stitch! The Movie is not an episode, but most likely just episodes combined.

The Aladdin sequel, Tarzan and Jane, and Atlantis 2 were all either episodes of the TV Series or, in Aladdin's case, planned to be apart of the TV Series.

Not only are you absolutely correct that many (if not most) of the cheapquels are the work of the TV animation division, which is most definitely NOT being put out of commission, there's also the fact that Disney is currently planning on remakes of many of their classic movies in 3D. "Cheapquel" may be the wrong word for these films, as they probably won't be cheap to make and they won't really be sequels in the proper sense of the word, but they do look to be at least as horrible at the cheapquels ever were.

Sorry, folks, but I wouldn't count the cheapquels out quite yet.
