I can't decide whether to open them or leave them boxed, what do you guys do?

I keep 90% of my toys boxed, but that's only cause I never do squat with them when they're opened. They're just harder to keep dust free, and plus I don't risk loosing accessories.
But if the figures really cool, I'll buy two for one to fool around with.

Im 14 and yes I do play with my action figures. I only have one unopened figure and its from 1991(nightcrawler). It makes me mad that I cant get a phantom action figure for less than 24 dollars if Im gonna open it anyways. At the store I go to they have returned harley quinn figures in a bad for 15 bucks. Is this a ripoff or am I missing something?

Rip off you could get one unopened for 10 dollars on ebay plus four dollars shipping. I open most of my 5-6 inch action figures but that's because I have only plenty of playsets to display them with. I have several Batcaves, Wayne Manor, Gotham City Bank, Ghostbusters Firehouse etc. But I don't open the ten or twelve inch action figures because they normally display very nice in the box and I wouldn't have anywhere special to put them.

Open them! I can't stand the site of a figure behind plastic. I set them up, do them in scenes with each other, put them on shelves, rearange them everyknow and then etc, etc. I opened the JL twelve inch figures but did it real cafeful and kept everything because they look good in the boxes too. I was going to keep them in the box but they're way to nice. They look even better out of the box. I do keep most of my boxes too. And my Javelin is going to get hung from the ceiling with fish wire or something clear like that.

I'm one of those crazy idiots who buys two of each. Hang one on the wall, open the other and set it on the shelf. I will only buy two of the figures that I like. I'll generally buy one of something that I don't like, and keep it boxed, just to have a whole line... Wonder how long I can afford to keep this up? :p

Currently, all of my JL figures are still MOC. And I'll be buying 2 Hawkgirls. I was originally going to open them, but then the more articulated figures were announced (I had no place to put them so they've been in my "Figures to Open" pile since March) I decided to leave the figures with bases MOC, and I'll open the later assortments that look better.
I'll open my Luthor 2-pack (when I get one), and I'll probably open the Attack Armor figures once I get the new ones early next year.
I doubt I'll be getting the Mega Armor figures, though. I only picked up the AA ones because I like the Kryptonite armor and the jetpack.

hey why dont they stop releasing these pointless battle armor figures and make some new characters already. my jl has no one to battle against, except batmans rogue gallery figures and some supes. y????? :(

i normally break 'em out the box
simple reason: a figure is worthless MIB or MOC if you never sell it.
even if you owned the hallowed Honus Wagner baseball card, it's worth nothing 'til you get that check!
i've got my Batman figures and villains all around my stereo
I've been buying 2 of each JL member yet i haven't opened a single one yet. i have opened and displayed the 10" figures. i plan on displaying them on their bases when (big WHEN) I get my Hawkgirl figures. The plan to display the sealed ones above my door frame, as zi've done w/ my Batman 2-packs (leave no space bare!)
i like the other Batman figures coming out w/ Robin & the Joker. Good luck finding a non-variant though. I wish Mattel distributed their product more like Playmate has done w/ TMNT. I've had no trouble getting those. I really wasn't anticipating such a hard time w/ this line. I've found G1 TFs w/o disappontment.

I've just had another good idea. I'm going to hang the Javelin and hang some of the variants (armor supes and bats) next to it like they're flying besides it. Ohhhh I can't wait! :anime:

I've recently run into the same dilemma. During my trip to New York last fall, I'd picked up Hasbro's last repainted Batcave with Alfred figure. It was a really exciting purchase for me, since I'd never had an actual Batcave before, but once I opened it up at home, I discovered that they had skimped on some of the plastic, and that the whole thing wasn't all that and a bag of chips. The balcony of the Manor wasn't well connected to the rest, and one of the hinges had been broken prior to my discovering it. I carefully put it back in it's box, and stored it in my closet.
A week ago, after picked up AA GL and MM, I went through my B:TAS figures and realized how much I really enjoyed them. As a kid, I'd always opened the packages and played with them. I never liked adult "collectors" who'd snatch the figure I wanted to find only to place it on a shelf and later sell it. So, I went back in my closet, pulled out the Batcave, assembled it, and found myself beaming from ear-to-ear. I played my Danny Elfman Batman CD in my discman and spent a good half hour in my room posing the figures and feeling like a kid again :) That's what these figures should be about. If you want to make some kind of investiment, choose something that's likely to earn you $$$. Toys are meant to bring joy, not profit, so you do what makes you happy.

Well said. I don't even think of toys as an investment, just an enjoying collection. If I was looking to make money I would get into something else.

I used to always keep my figures in their packages. Recently however, I decided that I no longer wanted to keep the figs on display but rather that I wanted to play with them. So, one by one, I open them. I just wish I have some room for playsets...Sigh...
