Hey fellow artists,
I finally got the JUSTICE LEAGUE page fully updated on this site, and in the process snagged some great headshots of Batman, Superman, and Green Lantern. Here they are below:

The Batman pic REALLY works to getting the new look right.
WOW those pictures are awesome up close!!! (you can say that again mr Hat!) I don't know about the ears on Bats though, but I guess that I'll get used to it. He looks cool as always so I can't really complain :)
I hope I'll be able to watch JL when I go to the states in two months! hehe...I'm coming over to bug you all!! muhahahaa

I wonder if that was intentional. A lead in to the BB suit. But since it's not 100% sure if Batman Beyond is continuity...

I always thought Batman Beyond was an alternate future, like an Elseworlds type premise. But that's not based on anything I had ever heard. It could easilly be "continuity" in the animated universe.

I think the 'Elseworlds' spin is the likely story, but so far everything holds up 'in continuity'. Even that 'Part-timer' crack Superman makes in THE CALL PART 2 is likely in continuity.

Hmmm.....
That will be interesting to note. Will Batman be nothing more than a "part-timer" in the new series as the future Superman alluded to? Of course, that won't clear anything up since they said that this is a little bit outside or the continuity of the other series anyways. Like GL being John Stewart instead of Kyle Raynor who had been introduced in Superman. (Hey, who else noticed that it was Hal Jordan's plane in that episode?)

hmmm...funny I read interviews with the BB producers and staff (an old animation magazine that no longer exists (Animatinisque or something early 2000, late 99) they claimed that they viewed the show more as a continuation of the old show. I never viewed it as elseworld personally.

Hey I.R. Joey, I have that same magazine yer talking about! ANIMETASTIQUE, or something along those lines. It had a great 20 page (or so) spread on Batman Beyond. I think BB will be able to work in fine. Also, it depends on what Superman consideres a part-timer...

It could have be that Superman was looking at it from Batman point of view. Maybe Batman didn't really want to be in the League at all. Now that would make an interesting story line.
On the other hand, didn't they say that not every member would be in each episode? So Batman could still be in the League as a part-timer.

Yeah, I guess I realized that it fit in to the continuity of the animated series. However, Batman Beyond, as far as I know, has no place in the continuitiy of the Batman comic book world, at least not yet. I figured if they did bring Batman Beyond to the "real universe" in DC comics, it would be as an Elseworlds story. Again, I have nothing to base that on, just that I figured they would have their own plans for the character or would want to keep it open.

Hey:
Man I love those pictures, they look even better up close. But is it me or is Green Laturens eyes green, oh and is the guy who does the voice of Static Shock supposed to do the voice of Green Latturen, just wondering.

Yup, Static is GL. Phil Lamar, i think.
After putting some thought into it, i don't think the Batman loner thing will be a problem. The producers have already said that not everyone will be in every ep, so i guess we can just assume that when we don't see Bats, he isn't there. Plus, Supes could just mean that psychologically, Batman was never a joiner. Ya know, he was part of the JL full time, but he never really fit in. These are just theories, but only time will tell.

If Batman Beyond was in the same continuity as Justice League, wouldn't the suit that Batman is wearing in the JLA picture be in the Batcave's display case instead of the one that was in there the whole time?
I know that the new look hadn't been created yet, but we are talking about continuity, not when something was created.
Actually, I'm still not quite clear on why the New Batman Adventures suit would be in the case in the first place, but that's a question for the Batman Beyond board.
I like to compare Batmans role in the JL, to the role of Wolverine in the X-men. Logan was never a social person but was always there for those who depended on him.
Wolverine was always one of my favorites and so is Batman!

You know, that analogy actually works. I can't believe I never thought to compare Batman and Wolverine. BTW - Batman would kick Wolvie's arse.

Weren't Batman and Wolverine combined in Amalgam? Dark Claw or something like that.

Indeed they were and it was rather cool! I bought that comic by a mistake once back in 94 I think. Actually my first question on the batman-superman.com board in 98 was about that comic. I asked if there would be more and if there would be a cartoon (I didn't know much about the stuff that was going on in the US or cartoon world at that time)
I was chewed out as a newbie with that question, cuz marvel and DC only did that one as a crossover/Amalgam.

Besides that, what will you be doing when you come to the US? Partying like a rock star?

I'd say you have to ignore slight changes like that ,they are constantly tweaking the looks. For example the Jokers look has changed several times. He went from having regular eyes to black eyeballs with white pupils back to regular eyes again. I'm not sure what his JLA appearance will look like yet.

That's the sort of nitpick that drives the creators of these shows crazy! It would be literally impossibe for them to know each and every turn their shows will take and to put all these things in the first episode of each series from the beginning. Star Trek is probably the most revered show for it's "continuity" and thus the most nit picked of any series I have ever seen (they even have nit picking books out about all the series!) but Gene Roddenbery would have been the first one to tell you they were making it all up as they went along. And when you do that, and I think every show has done that except for Babylon 5, you're bound to have little glitches like this in the continuity at one point or another.

And so what good creators do in a case like this, is to come up with a good reason why the things ended up as they did, instead of ignoring continuity and simply making an entire series into a 54 episode Elseworlds story. Continuity is a double edged sword. You can't rely on backstory from a previous episode on one hand, and completely ignore it when it's convenient to do so. Well, I take that back. You can do that. It's just not consistent.

I agree with you Domino I wish creators would go that extra step to make sure everything makes since. But unfortunately that doesn't always happen. I'm big on continuity myself. I'm not happy that they are not going to explain what happened to Kyle Rayner as Green Lantern. It's not that difficult to have John Stewart say "he's been assigned elsewhere. " at the very least that would satisfy most viewers. Instead they want us to pretend that for the sake of the sake of The JL that the episode "In Brightest Day" never happened. That's sad. They said that they don't want to be restricted creatively but wouldn't coming up with an explanation force them to be more creative. Just a Thought.

You're absolutely right! Maybe Bruce Timm will fix this error in the continuity with the new Batsuit in JLA by having the suit destroyed in the end of the series so Bruce will never be able to put it on display in his case?
