Howdy,

American military scientists are developing a weapon which kills by delivering an enormous burst of high-energy gamma rays, it is claimed today.

The bomb, which produces little fallout, blurs the distinction between conventional and nuclear weapons, and experts have already warned it could spark a new arms race. The science behind the gamma ray bomb is still in its infancy, and technical problems mean it could be decades before the devices are developed. But the Pentagon is taking the project seriously.

Don't they know how this is going to END? Haven't ANY of them read comic books at SOME point in their lives?

(I could blather about how the last thing we need is another new, different, and exciting way to blow each other up when we're pretty doggone good at it with the ways we have already, but that's a topic more in line with CafeToonZone.)

Half funny, half scary. I'm still kind of wondering if this isn't some hoax that got propagated in the news, but I do know Team Bush has been pushing for the US to restart research into new and "better" nuclear weapons.
