Manga:
Pros - much cheaper!, generally comes out before the anime is released to tv/dvd, almost always has much better art!, alot less filler!
Cons - black&white!, sometimes hard to tell what's going on in smaller panels, easier to damage then dvds..
Anime:
Pros - color!!!, ya don't have to read(unless you use subtitles), dvd extras!, takes longer to watch an anime then to read each volume of its manga counterpart so its more for your dollar
Cons - filllllller!, usually comes out well after the manga is underway/out, expensive.. *sigh*

It depends on the series.
Dragon Ball is 10 times better in print than on TV. Same goes for DBZ, both because of less filler and more comedy. Slayers, though, especially the more recent Slayers Special is on the other side of the scale. Ranma 1/2 managed to be entertaining in both mediums, at least as far as book 20 and season 2 are counted.
Really, the biggest disadvantages to me when it comes to manga are the lack of color and the "backwards" printing. It's hard enough to read the early Lupin in the first place, let alone read it completely opposite to 99% of the other books you've ever read. It'd be nice to reorder the panels, but I'd settle for a "flipped" second version.
You're right on with anime, having filler and being expensive. The latter I can forgive because I love animation, but the former really ruined DBZ for alot of people.

I find that action-oriented series make better anime then manga, as with animation its easier to follow the action in motion than over several still frames. Its all good though.

I actually prefer the "right to left" in manga. I don't really find it to be a hassel when I'm reading it, and I think it's good to have the set-up the author/artist originally intended.
I'd say I usually prefer manga because they have more time to develop the characters. Action sequences obviously look better fully animated, but manga almost always has the advantage in the dialogue department.

I prefer mangas mostly because they represent the artist's vision. A series almost always loses something in its transition from manga to animé. For example, the Sailor Moon manga is beautiful but the character designs in the animé are really bland.
Also, a lot of series lose my interest when they start airing endless filler episodes *I'm looking at you, Inuyasha!*

I think varies highly title to title. I much prefer the Angelic Layer anime to the manga, because the anime goes into much more depth than manga does, and feels more natural pacing wise, whereas the manga almost feels rushed. Conversely, I prefer the Chobits manga to the anime version because the manga pacing is just so much tighter and sharper.
It's not always pacing either. Gravitation, as an anime, pretty much rewrites the pacing from the manga, but it works anyway, because the intension is preserved. However, the additional setup in Gravitation is something I enjoy because like the lead character, I write Techno music, so to see that accurately represented (down to the synths and software) is something I personally enjoy, and it's something lost in the anime (what do you expect when you gotta try and stuff 12 volumes of manga into 13 episodes of TV though?) However, I'd say at the moment both works are equal in my heart. If the manga keeps it's attention to detail up though, it might win me over.

Go back to where censorship began
(Con)
Benito Mussolini of Italy (not one of 3 the tenors) but the one who was one of the allied dictators in world war 1 and supported censorship of pieces of art that I learned from 7th grade history class.
He was a part of corrupt dictators like, adolf hitler, they trumpeted the ideal of fascism which is a is a system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism. Mussolini censored any art forms like leonard da vinci michaelangelo anything morally objectionable to kids and children being a concerned parent. Mussolini then moved to suspend constitutional government and establish a totalitarian regime over democracy and constitutional rights to freedom of expression. He proceeded in stages to establish a dictatorship by forbidding the parliament to initiate legislation for freedom of expression for the people. By 1926 he had passed decrees issuing him the force of law, establishing total censorship of the press and suppressing all opposition parties that would rebel against censorship, mussolini wild–eyed political movement that he rode to power in Italy in 1922 and that died with Adolf Hitler’s defeat in 1945. Mussolini was infamous for Lying to the good innocent people, and injusticed them. These fascists encouraged corruption and the eradication of human rights in government.
However Mussolini's religion Fascism became popular and widespread throughout the world.
Now several years this fascism is up to modern day standards the Same thing happened to anime and manga, internet, some countries have some censorship some very little. Fascist parent censorship groups were created like Action for childrens Television which Jamie kellner was involved with and they formed what is known as The International Trade Cartel ( ITC ) it is a confederation of international merchants, war lords, and priests who monopolize international trade distribution (The ITC Monopolies The exclusive power, or privilege of selling a commodity; the exclusive power, right, or privilege of trading in markets; and solely commands the importing traffic in anything.) Their wholesalers are the great billionaire business barons of today. Their retailers are the Western corporations. In modern day The great battle is between the episcopacy of the ITC and the presbytery of people namely purist otakus who refuse to accept animators as "wage slaves." (Slavery the state of being under the control of another person).
These barons placed a high tariff A list or system of duties imposed by a government on imported or exported goods such as anime and put their censorship laws in effect by bribing politicians in legislative government in exhange for money. Propaganda congregation of cardinals, was originally established in 1622, charged with the management of missions. PBS channel 13 controls these missions and funding of money peggy charenn's job and jamie kellners (jead of kids WB, previous VP of nickelodeon) job was to educate priests for politicians to donate money for missions in all parts of the world .
Animators and distributors thus became wage earners someone whose livelihood is completely dependent on the wages earned, work done under harsh conditions for little or no pay. As a result, Networks were paying high tariffs to import anime to other countries. The programming presented in that time had typically low budgets which critics complained meant poor production values and animation. They also complained that network practices aggravated the situation by typically only commissioning or renewing their series at the beginning of the year, which meant a 6 month schedule at best to produce hours of animated programming. The critics conclude that this tight schedule allowed for extremely little time for refinement, let alone experimentation in the material. The result in their opinion was rushed and often poorly written and animated productions. Thus caring about the cover rather than caring about content.

definately depends on the series i think
for example i'm sure the trigun comic is good and all
but somtime the action scenes are just that much better animated
on the other hand my older brother absolutely can not stand yugio
however... he said the comic was much better than the horrid show
mainly because the show is just selling stuff
the comic supposedly used better strategy and thought

Manga because most of the times it's better than the anime because as BrendaBat said you get the artists true vision without compines messing with it. I have yet to come across a manga that's worse than its anime counterpart.

It's hard to say. Some manga are better than the anime, but some anime are better than the manga. But manga is cheaper, and takes up less space. For example, Kodocha has over 100 episodes based on 10 volumes of manga. That's a lot! Plus there really isn't filler, as it's just the story.

Manga 2/3 of the time, particularly CLAMP stuff. The sheer detail in the CLAMP drawings blows me away. I much prefer the mangas of Inuyasha, Petshop of Horrors, Yami no Matsuei, Lost Universe, and Angel Sanctuary over the animes as well.
Then there's stuff like Escaflowne. I HATE the manga. Cowboy Bebop's anime is superior to its manga as well.
There are the rare cases where they're almost equal. I adore Slayers in both anime and manga form.
Then there's the ones that I'm not really sure what to think, 'cause they have some really odd character design changes between the manga and anime. Like Schuldich from Weiss Kreuz had green hair in the manga, and Farfarello was the redhead. Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho had black hair in the manga. ::shrug:: Oddness.

On that character design note, I was really surprised to see how radically different the Gravitation designs were from the animes to the manga. It's almost as if the anime designer only took the most vague direction when it came to matching the original work.

Anime is really really good but with manga you get alot more of fun you can make your own vocie's and other stuff manga is way better.
Anime is really really good but with manga you get alot more of fun you can make your own vocie's and other stuff manga is way better.
I never thought about doing that... let's see...
Chii voiced by James Earl Jones: "Simba... I am you father... This is CNN, chii?"
or
Belldandy voiced by Pamela Anderson/Denise Richards: "Oh god... oooo... *purr*... mmmm."
or
Rei voiced by Mike Myers: "Does this plugsuit make you horny? Yeah, EVA-00 baby!!"
 Sorry Hyperdash, I couldn't resist.
Anyway... For some I prefer the manga, and others the anime. For example the Love Hina manga is far superior to the Anime whereas the Kitty Grade anime is lightyears better than the manga so far. Of course, there are some which both are great and both will give you sides of the character or situations that the other doesn't. A good example of this would be Neon Genesis Evangelion.
What is really missing from the poll is the third option, and would get my vote, is:
"Whatever tells the story best."
