Jon, Jack, Matthew~
Now that that character Brooklynguy78 is on ummmm permanent vacation ;) couldn't you guys consider removing most of his posts (aside from his thread-openers)??? I hate to say it but the vast bulk of what the poor guy wrote was either out and out inane or in such ummmm unique English as to be near-incomprehensible (at least to me)... Maybe nobody else had a problem with it.
[And yes I remember about the 'ignore this user' function...]
[{ Note I edited the above post to avoid offending anyone else! Sorry guys!!}]

Yeah Glenn I know it... It's just that in written form it comes across as even worse (no gestures or facial expressions to help clarify things). Here in the Southwest I deal with a number of native-Spanish speakers and I admire their ability to learn English later in life and communicate to an English-only-idjit like myself ;) . But seeing their English in print would be frustrating as well...

I am sorry, I did not mean to offend anybody by my comments on Brooklyguy!!! A number of my ancestors here in the U.S. went on speaking German and native-Indian languages ONLY for several generations... I would have as much and likely even more trouble understanding my own ancestors of the early 1800's...

Yes Glenn that's possible... But the bulk of what Brooklynguy ever posted was by most people's criteria almost deliberately inane i.e. his insistence on confusing Harveytoons with Famous Studios, his infatuation with Full House... The guy had many if not all of the traits of a troll, which is among the things that got him banned.

Insulting other board members or constantly being a pain can (as I understand) get a person banned. Brooklynguy78 succeeded in doing both. Others have had the same fate, but almost all are warned one or more times beforehand.

Brooklynguy78 was banned because of his weird, disobedient and at times rude behavior, and the fact that he'd been warned repeatedly to cut it out. Jon did indeed warn him, and there were countless other occasions where his boo-boos were made quite clear to him. The reviving of old threads after being told not to, the pointless posts that said absolutely nothing, and finally that little jab at Pietro's artwork. Saying you think somebody's artwork is "boring" in big bold letters with no explanation for it can only mean one thing...he was trying to start something.
What we do not want is someone that makes people dread reading their posts. We've had pranksters and irksome folks in the past who seem to have run some of our friends off...and the beauty of this forum software is that we don't have to sit and tolerate that kind of thing.
We all remember Waggytoon. He was a nuisance because he posted ranting, raving stuff that drove people nuts, but he didn't really do anything offensive until later on. Turned out that folks on other boards had been much less tolerant of him, and his status as a forumwide annoyance finally got him the boot. I admit, I pushed the button, but it could and would have been any other TZ mod at some point.

I could have seen BrooklynGuy78 getting banned miles away. His constant pointless references to "Full House" and the rambled blabbering about Harveytoons were annoying, but the poke he made at Pietro's sketch pushed the envelope way too far.
And why did he keep posting those Harveytoons images?
And how can someone be so off-topic even in off-topic threads?
Ah well, I won't mind at all if his posts get deleted because they are annoying to read, and if he decides to show up again with another username (and he will, too :p :wolfie: ) hope he decides to behave better.

I didn't know Waggytoon got banned. I actually felt sorry for him for a little bit, and offered to help him out with some cartoons since he was hopelessly wishing that CN would air the stuff that he was missing (and I had most of the WB shorts that he was looking for). The concept of trading seemed foreign to him. He kept asking me how I planned on getting the cartoons to him. Uh.....mail?!
We should start a most annoying banned users thread with examples of some of their handiwork. That would be big fun! :woody:
To be honest, brooklynguy made me kinda self conscious about if my posts ever seem as pointless and random as his. I like to think that I can write and express thoughts in a sensible manner, but maybe he thinks so too!

BrooklynGuy78 did kind of Annoy me in his posts, but i have to keep my Mouth Close. Most of you Know about my starting a minor conflict with Lonestarr over at the WBC, and you are no doubt aware at the revival of my "What people have to say about Mickey Mouse" and my disparaging comments there. Lonestarr definatly docked me of some serious Karma, so i know not to pull a stunt like that again. I'm on a hiatus at the Videogames board because SJJ and Birdboy had to ban a guy named "S4ndwh1ch3z" there. They might be mad at me for replying to a particularly obscene post by him (even though i censored all the troublesome words like so {****}. So i can't call Brooklynguy78 Annoying.

I would say that him and Waggytoon were two different people. They both posted endless rants that you could barely understand, but they were actually different in their obsessions. I doubt Waggytoon had seen any Little Audrey shorts, since they don't air on CN!

To be kind, he struck me as someone who might be a little bit "slow," but who had just discovered the wonders of *img=src* linkage and was determined to show it off to everyone. His "Haveytoons"/Olson Twins obessions also struck me as less troll-like than someone who was not comprehending how annoying his posts were getting (though I suppose a troll could try to use cluelessness as a cover).
That said, if Jon and Matthew had warned him about his postings and the problem didn't stop, odds are things weren't going to change anytime soon, and having those posts and image links pop up in the most unlikely places in threads was getting to be a real detriment to the board (and I say that as a 22-year veteran of New York City, though not of the borough of trees...)

You know, that actually IS very possible.
Last year or so, Jon, Jack, Thad, and I participated in a thread on "The Fun and Games" board which was sorta like an interactive fanfic. There was one point in it where we were making fun of the Slasher and we said how he was a big "Full House" fan.
I have my suspicion that BrooklynGuy could actually be Vandemarcus or Chuck under a new username (though I doubt it since they were worse) and had viewed the thread and decided to piss us off.

It's against the rules to post at the TZ boards if you are under 13 years of age. I forget the details, but it's against the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act to post at messageboards without parental consent if you're under 13.

Wasn't there someone who got banned for saying he was 11?Yeah. His name was Speedyfan.
Like many of you, I also thought Brooklynguy78 was female, especially the fact that I remember him posting about a Disney princess poster. It doesn't seem very logical that a man/boy would have a Disney princess poster hanging up on their wall (unless of course they had some sort of crush on those princesses). In fact, it doesn't seem very logical that any adult, male or female, would have a Disney princess poster on their wall. And why was he so obsessed with Hilary Duff and the Olsen Twins? This guy is 25 years old and he has a crush on teenage girls? I had a hunch he'd eventually get banned with all those annoying posts, especially that uncalled for and very immature remark he made at Pietro's drawing.
As for Waggytoon, he really needed help. Like Brooklynguy78 had an obsession with "Full House," Waggy had an ungodly obsession with "CatDog" and the bird in that show Lola Caricola, whom he wished would get her own spin-off series. He actually liked "Baby Looney Tunes", but the only classic cartoons he seemed to like were the 1930's/early 40's WB cartoons (primarily the Porkys) and the late 1960's WB cartoons (Daffy/Speedy, Cool Cat, etc.). He did, however, hate Bugs Bunny :bugs1: and Tom and Jerry:tomcat: :jerry: and constantly put them down, insulting the rest of us. He never even told us why he hated those characters and why he actually liked that dispicable preschooler show "Baby Looney Tunes."
To top it all off, he thought cartoons were more important than the problems between the U.S. and the Middle East.
Sad, ain't it? :(

This is exactly what he said:
"The popularity of the classic "Looney Tunes" on CN has deteriorated since its glorious season of them all, the 2000-2001 Season. And with very few cable systems having Boomerang: The Channel in their lineup, it's going to be even more frustrating for viewers since CN may never give up its bias concerning their programming of "Looney Tunes" performances. And for most of us, this is even more of a concern than the other battle about to commence, in more ways than one."

Me personally, I found BrooklynGuy to be very annoying as I almost lost my temper with him when it came to the Paramount cartoons, as he kept calling them Harveytoons all the time,as like he knows the history of the Paramount cartoons and he couldn't even get that part right by calling them by the proper studio instead he thought that the comic book company made them and not Famous Studios.
And what's with the obsession with Hilary Doof (er, I mean Duff) and the Olsen Twins? For a man that's supposed to be 25(I'm only guessing that's his age) why would any 20 something be like hung up on those two twins from hell?

Let me put it this way...almost all of these guys are and have been mild compared to some of the vagrants that used to bug the TTTP in the old days. Folks like Waggy or Brooklynguy or Speedyfan meant no harm, but they really were detrimental to conversation and community contentment. We as moderators do not ban people because WE find them irksome, but because we want to make our forums a pleasant and safe place for folks to discuss our interests. If somebody disrupts that atmosphere, intentionally or not, we step in.
Waggytoon was actually one of the followers of my web site from early on, and a regular on the short-lived "Merrie Messages" forum I had. When my site joined Toon Zone he followed it, and his bizarre obsessions and ranting opinions just got more and more annoying. I appreciated Waggy's loyalty to my site and to Toon Zone, but frankly his behavior on this and other forums left us no choice but to give him the boot. I wish him well, but what's done is done.
I don't think Brooklynguy was anyone other than who he said he was. unlike Vandermarcus Smithson, he did not seem to take pleasure in other people's frustration. He was who he was.
The folks from the past Pietro mentions were banned for various reasons, but we have to remember how lucky we are to be at Toon Zone forums on vbuletin, where we can ban and keep banned folks like that. On free servers and news groups and chat rooms, those people can get ugly and turn your community into a wasteland faster than you can say Jack Robinson. I'm probably one of the few regulars here who remembers 'chuck', a poster-impersonating, malicious, malevolent butthead who ravaged the TTTP, Merrie Messages, and even Andrew Gilmore's own personal message board. Jon did his best to delete his antics from the TTTP, but back then there was no way to keep him from coming back. We also used to get spam, spam, and more spam, and obnoxious folks who dropped in just to be stupid and leave digital graffiti on any forum they could find. The first prankster/troll post I remember was on the old Beseen Bulletin version of this board, and the guy labelled it as "Coyote" and posted under the name of a certain Jon Cooke. I don't remember what it said, but as a newbie to the internet forum world it made me wonder what I was getting into!

To put it in short, he had quite a short temper and pushed it on the WBC by posting a very offensive post to the Administrators and the Moderators. Another problem was the thread where everybody decided to start a "party at Sveven's house."
I vaguely remember Brian warning him constantly to stop.
He really wasn't a bad guy, Sveven was quite knowledgable and took the place of Peter Sofanos (sp?), posting cartoon showings on CN (which also led to another problem since posting showings is an "unoffical job" and Sveven took it seriously). He was on the board for awhile before he was banned. Infact, he was even on the early Bseen board.

Yep, that was him, quite possibly the most anal-retentive person we've ever had here. The contents of a show had to be posted in a particular kind of manner, and if you didn't follow it, watch out! And sometimes, even if you did follow it, and you posted the contents before he did, watch out! The whole thing got very old very quickly, and a few times I would post a show's contents the very split second the final cartoon aired, just to see Sveven get mad.
