Here's Popeye doing his impersonation of Groucho. Now, who can be the first to identify which cartoon it is from?? :D

I guess I'll join in the fun. My new avatar is a picture of Foxy doing a classic take from "Smile, Darn Ya, Smile." Jon, I think you avatar is from a cartoon (I forget the title) where Popeye, Olive, and Swee' Pea perform their vaudeville act.

Here's my avatar...it's from the digitally colorized version of Sinking In The Bathtub.

Don't you think they did a good job on the logo card? :D

Jon, by any chance, is your avatar from "Puttin' on the Act" (1940)?

My avatar (which I put up the other day) is how I got my nickname, Havreytoon's MOE HARE

Someone here has an avatar of Bugs doing his Al Jolson impression. Which cartoon is that from? You see, people, I have a problem. I have NEVER seen any of those banned cartoons! If they've been banned before the 80's I haven't seen them. I want to buy the tapes but people but them for an arm and a leg on ebay! I'll buy a copy from someone. But they will probably give me nightmares. I know. I'm weird. Gotta go watch some more cartoonies!

Bugs doing Al Jolson is from the war bonds special "Leon Schelsinger Presents Bugs Bunny," which Bob Clampett's unit did in Dec. 1941. That part was edited out when it was shown on Jerry Beck's Toonheads special on the lost WB cartoons last year.

I just don't understand what the big problem is with blackface gags!
I used to see them all the time back in the 80's and early 90's when Tom & Jerry was Tom ans Jerry+Tex Avery cartoons. I never paid attention then. In fact, I never paid attention until I noticed the cut in a T&J short a while back. This short was set on July 4th and had a gag with Jerry blowing into a noisemaker that had a firecracker in it. I never saw the result and then the vision came back after over 10 years. Now I notice almost all of them. Someone explain this to me.

P.S. Someone tell Jon Cooke that, if he can, he should put a search engine on his censored toons site. I look at it all the time but I'm tired of scrolling down and I have a very slow internet system. It's Worldgate. I don't know if any of you know what that is. If you do then you see my complaint.

You are absolutely correct, Matt!! Pietro was correct as well, "Puttin' on the Act" was the cartoon in which Popeye and Olive perform their old vaudeville act.
