Well, I'm going to Europe for the first time. Ever. Family vacation, for two weeks. And, mind you, I'm VERY excited. More specifically, I'm visiting London for a week, and then Paris...so, my question is...
Any suggestions on what I should do while I'm there? I know there are a handful of Toonzoners who live in England, and some even in London (perhaps?). Any tips on must-sees while I'm there? There's so much sightseeing, and I can get all the basic info from a standard travel guide, but I've found that the best way to find out what's best to do while traveling is to talk to people who have visited or live there.
That being said....suggestions?

As far as London goes it depends what you're interested in, as you say there are all the famous landmarks and you can get tours round those and the usual tourist spots such as Madam Tusauds and the 'further out' of London spots like Hampton Court Palace. There are also things like Jack the Ripper tours and Haunted London tours if that's your cup of tea and boat rides on the river up to Kew Gardens or down through the redeveloped docklands to Greenwich where the Thames Barrier is as well as the Greenwich timestrip and the Cutty Sark & Gypsy Moth.
Depends what you're interested in really, Picadilly, Soho and Covent Garden are all good for shopping, mingling with the crowd, watching street entertainers though Camden is probably my favourite, it has some really cool little shops and a busy market especially as the weekends where you can get all sorts of stuff especially retro.
And of course if you're coming after August you can always go see a football match!
If I think of anything else I'll add it later. Are you going anywhere else in England other than London?

Wow, thanks for all the great info Rune! I won't be going anywhere in England except for London, though.

Well, I'm certainly jealous. Europe is the place I've most wanted to visit on this planet for a long, long time. :p
Have fun!
