Nice episode. Great animation, as usual. Lots of funny moments, but also a lot of dramatic, emotional stuff. Great action sequences, and a lot of cool little touches (like Xavier mistaking X23's presense for Wolverine). The only thing I hated was X23's voice. So annoying. At least she didn't talk very much.
I too liked this episode. I really did not like how he just let her go at the end. She would have made a perfect addition to the younger X-MEN. Sort of like how Wolverine is with the older X-MEN, only with feelings.

I thought this was a very good episode. The teaser at the beginning was done amazingly well! It was dark, quick-paced, and superbly animated! Even though we all knew X23 was going to be a little girl, the animators did a great job at keeping her identity a mystery in the suit. The training/flashback video of X23 was very nicely done as well, featuring some of the best animation of the episode. I found this episode to be nicely done. It was interesting, dark, with just the right amount of humor thrown in to keep it balanced.

I completely disagree. I thought that ending was brillant and showed how Wolverine does recognize her as his daughter ( or self for that matter ). You saw how painful it was for him to fight her. And after each attack he refused to take out his claws until his emotions got the better of him. He saw through her the pain that he took and had with him after he had to stagger the world alone and used without any memory of his past. When "they" came for her he knew that she must no longer depend on the government or even him. She must do the painful task that he had to and find her own place in the world.
On a side note, they have enough X-Men which was the reason why they had so many characters leave in the episode Mainstream.

im giving this episode a 4. I dunno what i was really expecting. Is rahne(wolfsbane) still at the instatute? to me, beserker seems to stay in the shadows until someone needs him(like in this). X23 was kinda well, different. I think the claw from the toe was going a little far. I liked the part between wolverine and X23, it was touching. I thought proffesor X might have known better than that. Ever hear of security breech? It usually goes off when theres an intruder. what does that make x23?im mad how the older kids didnt get much screen time. which reminds me at the end...Rouge with the younger kids? Oh well cant wait for next week. the end of the world as we know it in 7!!!!!
I really liked this episode. ****1/2 stars
I have been waiting for this ep since I first heard about X23, which was before season 3 even started! I enjoyed it all, but I thought that some of the scenes where she was watching them and remembering were unnecessary, even though they made us feel for her character more. Her voice was extremely annoying. I don't quite know where X23 was supposed to go to at the end.
I could have sworn that I saw that scene with Rogue and the Professor before. I may have read it in the transcript, but it seems like I saw it.
One thing I noticed is a change in the animation. Ever since about the third season, the characters look slightly anime styled. The animation was very fluid, I think, but the only time it wasn't was early in the first season.
On a side note, they have enough X-Men which was the reason why they had so many characters leave in the episode Mainstream. 2 is so many? :p

Liked this ep.
Wasn;t annoyed by X23's voice, but glad she didn't talk much. I first got the impression that she was mute. or never taught how to speak.
my 5 year old brother knew she was girl from the opening bit, so it wasn't THAT convincing .
I liked the training sessions, it reminded me of the comics. I also liked how Storm waters her plants, nice touch.
Was it just me or was Rouge and Xavier's dialogue at the begining sped up. or at least the actors were talking too fast to sound natural.
I doubt we'll see X23 agian, but it would be nice to.

Definelty, one of the best episodes of the season. I liked this episode a lot. It added the right amount of humor to fit in the story with alll the action. I agree that X23's voice was kind of annoying, but maybe she won't be doing a lot of talking. Overall, I thought this was a really great episode and give it 5 stars.

I am so glad I saw CN's X-Men Evo run for the summer, or I would be confused over Rogue's condition. Too bad I missed the Weapon X Episode though.
I thought X23 was great. Five stars.
Lots of emotional impact with Wolverine telling X23 how he sympathized with her and letting her express her feelings. This really is a mature plot for a KidsWB show. I like X23's design, including her two-claw fists and spike feet. The voice didn't annoy me too much, though it is rather high. Obviously, she'll return, but I hope it isn't too soon, or else she'll be overplayed as a character.
I read in an interview with a producer that the network is pushing for more focus on Wolverine. I think this is a mistake, as some of the more interesting plots involve Rogue, Cyclops, Jean, and the Brotherhood. I will be extremely angry if this becomes "The Wolverine and X23 Show."
But, still, this episode was great.

Wow, just wow! That was truly a great episode. I was worried that this was going to be a long fight between Wolverine and X23, but instead it was packed with a lot of drama and angst, X23 might be the new second most angsty character on the show(replacing Wanda). I also liked the inclusion of Hydra, who will hopefully have a role in future episodes, and the return of Nick Fury. We also got to see Rogue back in action as well. I can't wait for next Saturday(or whenever I see the episode since I'm going on vacation tommorow and have to record it), if the rest of the episodes live up to this(and I understand that the 2 parter coming up is better), we'll have a great season, and there would be no way this show wouldn't get renewed.

nice peek outside the X-Universe w/ S.H.I.E.L.D. & HYDRA
the FOX Spider-Man series gave me a terrible impression of the character, but he rocks on Evo.
this was a great story about humanity
we'll definitely be seeing her again
"X23" is worth repeated viewings until next week's much anticipated arc, Dark Horizon

Season three has proved what a great series X-Men Evolution is, and this episode was no exception. A great episode, I loved it. I'm a big SHIELD and Captain America fan so I loved seeing more of Fury, SHIELD, and even HYDRA!
I'm glad this episode was more than just X23 and Wolverine fighting the whole time. The plot was incredibly mature, and dark for a Kids WB! show as someone else said. The scene were X23 is a baby and is all by herself in that basket was chilling. I don't know why but I liked the two claws on each hand they gave her, made her unique. The foot claw was a surpise had it not be ruined but the Kids WB commercial.
Odd how they call it a season premiere, next episode will be the season finale! I sure hope we don't have to wait long for season 4.
Liked the ending too, we all know she'll be back. Anyone else wish she would join the X-Men? After the previous attempt to create a character for the show coughspykecough who proved to be less that popular, I'd like to see them do it again with success.

don't buy into that network garbage, SEASON PREMIERE
"X23" is one the 4 episodes held over from Season Three, hence the Season 3 opening creds that included Spyke.
When the REAL 4th Season premieres, namely the aftermath of "Dark Horizon", there might be a new opening sequence sans Spyke and featuring some clips of Apocalypse, seeing how he's going to be looming large over Season 4.
I'm certain we haven't seen the last of Evan. I can see a story where anti-mutant sentiment sweeps the globe in the wake of Apocalypse's rampage. Expect further pressure from the human populace to either destroy, enslave, or register mutants. The government will have their hands full trying to solve the mutant issue, causing some hateful individuals to take matters into their own hands, such as the Freidns of Humanity. They get word that mutants live in the sewers so they go underground to weed them out. They attack their camp, but Evan escapes and turns to his former X-mates for help. The X-Men react and save the Morlocks. Storm begs Evan to stay but he chooses to stick w/ the Morlocks. I repeat, I can see a story where.....

This ep was pretty good, but it kinda reminded me of when Wanda made her first appearance. Still, great ep with some excellent action scenes! :D
I'm also glad to see Rogue has finally recovered, although it'll still take her a while to socialize. I also liked the part where Jean drenched Scott when they were doing the dishes. Thought that was very cute. :p

Why didn't they just use Lady Deathstrike? Anyway besides that I really liked this episode. Can't wait for the season final 2-parter next week :D

Ok, so does this mean we only get three weeks of new episodes? Or are they just airing the leftover season 3 episodes then moving to new stuff?
As for the episode itself, I thought it was really good. Watching it on WB is really bad though, especially after seeing it on CN. The 4 or 5 comercial breaks (as opposed to one on CN) are really annoying.

You say you've been watching it on CN? Well CN only aired the original theme song about season 2 they changed it to included Beast and some of the new mutants as well as changing the tune slightly but CN just stuck with the original.
Oh and I really hope CN gets these episodes. It's a lot easier on CN just having to pause out one commerical break and CN actually shows the ending credits. Oh and the CN logo is less anoying than the WB one.

Pretty good episdoe. It was really nice seeing something new. I really hated all those commercial breaks as well.
I liked the scenes when X23 was spying/looking at all the other X-Men. And it showed some members we usually don't have in the foreground. The spotlight of the episode were all the Logan and X23 parts. Good characterization on Logans part. I didn't find X23's voice annoying at all. What I did find annoying about her was her appearance. She is Logan's clone, so why do she and Logan have dissimilar hair, skin, and [I believe] eye colour? Was that part of the modifications that doc from Hydra was talking about? It gave me the odd feeling she put some of herself into that clone.
But other than that little annoyance, I give the episode 2 thumbs up.

Sort of glad I too caught up with the CN run to get to this really good episode. Sure a lot of it was spoiled by the WB's "spoilerific" commercials, but there were still some good moments in this, including Nick Fury's appearance and the study of the psychological turmoil that X23 has been through both through her isolation and her observations of the mutants at the Xavier Acadamy. The battle between Wolverine and his "daughter" was good too, although I didn't like how easily she took out all of the other mutants on the campus. Also nice to see Rouge out of bed again. And finally, is it just me or is Bobby always in many of the "recruits" scenes causing some sort of mischief? (sure Iceman is one of the originals, but he and Magma seem to do the most out of the group)
Now all I got to see is that one where Boom-Boom joins the Brotherhood and I am all set.....

X23 was a good episode, but it just wasn't intended for kids. Clones, brainwashing, infiltration, neutralizers? The old series had plenty of this, but it was lighter toned. But I'll take this over anything else on the entire Kids WB schedule (well, except Static Shock).

The tragic hero path that X-Men Evo has taken for its villians IMO really show that this show is superior to most shows. The entire episode was origin and showed X23 and displayed the character's mind and feelings well. I disagree with those who said she was one dementioned or that even her voice was annoying, I actually liked it compared to other shows. She has been broken down. Torn apart. She is completely relient upon herself and can not nor ever has been daught to show her feelings. So her character isn't going to explain itself on screen. It would have to be explained by flashbacks and her looking at others. Her eves dropping on the X-Men is what she is taught to do. She must check out the area and its "soldiers" until the target is found. She was supposed to, or taught, to figure out the mutants' weaknesses and powers. At the same time she witnessed them have fun. The pain built up from her as she saw children gifted like her, weapons in a sense, being treated as humans. Finally when Xavier tried to comfort her, her idependence and training kicked in and she began her attack. Why? One could say that she was trying to grasp the reality of her life and do what she was trained to do and not be broken up so easily, as she has been trained to do also. Finally when Logan defeated her she fully realized her place as being a child and saw him as the love that had to be drained from her. A person that she could talk to. And in the end she would have to leave him for her own safety.
I give this ep 5/5 stars. Brilliant beyond words. Before I saw this episode, I almost forget why I loved this show so.

They said they put her through the weapon X process when she was like 8 or something. Well that means she has a metal casing around her bones. What happens when she starts to go through puberty and started to grow? Wouldn't that cause a few problems

Don't forget in Evan's last ep, he was beginig to change, so if he does make a cameo or return to the X-men, there's a good chance we will see him a a huge spike-plated creature that has a problem keeping his inner beast from coming out.
Anyway, X23 was a very well done ep, the animation is top-notched, the story wasn't much of a part of a bigger story, but still well-done. As for the new character herself, also well-done, they didn't make her life story too dramatic to get us to cry for her(like some wifey-flick from that lifetime channel), and...... well all around, just a well-done character that many would want to see again and see how she developes. So to all of you who say "any comic-based-animated-series-borned-character will always suck, or I'll eat an old boot",...... want some ketchup with that boot?

BTW, The producers said that Spykes absence was only temporary. But you never know, maybe he's gone for good. I hope not, becaus I think that the character has a lot more potential, ten turning him into a male version of Marrow like the writers did to him in his last appearance on the show. What they did to him in that episode, only served to falsely add credence to those x-fans who beleave Spyke was intentionaly created to be a black mail version of Marrow. Despite what a lot of x-fans say, Spyke was NOT a male version of Marrow. Spyke, was created to addsome racial diversit to the cast and to be the "Wolverine" of the 6 main students/characters of the show.

Actually X23 writer Craig Kyle said that her bones are not covered in adamantium just the claws.
One thing that is interesting is the placement of this episode. When you think about it, "X23" is a lot like last season's "The Hex Factor," which was also shown before the season finale. They are both about angsty girls with bad lives, they both defeated the X-Men, and they both were angry at their "fathers." Only thing is "The Hex Factor" had something to do with the season finale, and "X23" doesn't (I don't think). I think "Under Lock and Key" would have been a better lead to the season finale than "X23" was. The only problem would have been the Rogue scenes. But I'm glad that "Under Lock and Key" was shown when it was, because I liked it and wouldn't have wanted to wait for it like with "X23."

Whew, it's been a long wait. I liked "X23", but wasn't as impressed with it as I have been with some of the other episodes this season. Like Pyro~ManiacX I had "The HeX Factor" flashbacks, which was kind of disappointing. But overall I thought the character was handled very well, and the way she took down all the X-Men was believable (though I thought Xavier shouldn't have been taken so easily). I also liked how the regular X-Kids were barely seen with the exception of Rogue, and how the new recruits had some more focus. Hopefully we'll see more of the organization that created her. I have to say I'm a bit suspicious of that female scientist. She intentionally joined the Bad Guys because they were the only ones who's fund her work and raised X23 in that environment from birth, and only grew a conscience once she escaped? I wouldn't be at all surprised if Hydra counted on her escaping so they could see how their ultimate weapon fared against her gene donor. But that's just me.

This episode aired last night on the Canadian channel YTV and I have to admit - I kind of liked it. I thought it contained alot of great looking animation, which slipped abit in the final minute or so, when Nick Fury sets down on the Institute lawn. The tussle between Wolverine and X23 looked beautiful, as did the teaser at the first when X23 is escaping from the compound. I love how she just slides down the wall with her claws. The sound effect was a nice touch and the camera work was very well handled. A cool episode, without a doubt. I still don't understand why alot of people bashed the episode.

the animation was particularly beautiful in this ep. curt geda directed this one, right. the animation in the footage that logan and fury watch, as x23 fights the robots, geez it looks beautiful. not a big fan of her as a character, she's a little unnecessary, though, i like the nod to the live action costumes in her design. it's a little weird to see a female in animation not wear lipstick, but in her case it works, albeit a little weird. the claws in the feet were a surprise, and i kind of like that she had 2 claws instead of 3. and the fanfic jab that's been thrown around at this character, while i'm not a big fan of the term, i can't help but agree...

There's not many more positive things I can say about this episode, as they have probably been said, and in better ways than I can.
That being said, I enjoyed this episode. It put a different spin on the series itself, helping it stand out from say, TAS and the movies, as well as the comics.
It also showed the X-Men - and in particular, Logan - in a different light, which is what the show is trying to achieve, right? (Don't hurt me if I'm wrong about this! Please!)
This is one of the episodes that stands out for me in the series, and I hope other people feel the same way.

"I'm the one person on this planet who knows what you're going through, and maybe the closest thing you have to family."
-Logan/WolverineThat pretty much sums up what went on in the episode. I did find it a little weird, however, that the writers (not sure if there were different ones) gave X23's creator in the comics a different name than the one here. Still, this was a very cool episode, as are most of the ones that focus on our hero Wolverine, but I'm still amazed that she (X23) took down every X-Man in the mansion!

Technically she didn't exactly physically overpower all of them. She was being stealth about leaving everybody unconscious with the disk, in the quickest and the least painful way possible.
As for the episode, I found it to be one of the most under rated of the entire series. And I don't think it deserves the bashing it gets. The animation, the score, the fight scenes, and the characterization were all spot on. I know some people thought she was tacked on to Wolverine focused episodes because of Kids WB, but I don't think beggers can be choosers in cases like this. The only I had a problem with was X23's voice, other then that, I found this episode to be very fun to watch, like most of Curt Geda's episodes. Speaking of Curt Geda, does anybody know why he wasn't around to direct Season 4's episodes?
Also one more thing, was I the only one getting a Debra Whitman (from Spider-Man TAS) vibe from the Hydra scientist? Both were scientist, both had blonde hair, both were named DEBRA. Maybe I'm just thinking too much on this, but I thought this might of been an intentional nod from the writers. Where's Boyd Kirkland when you need him?

Another favorite episode of mine, again aside from Rogue, X23 is one of my favorite X-Men Evo characters. I personally like this episode because of the great animation, the title character itself and the end fight scene with Wolverine and X23, I thought that was handled well.
And what's interesting is that X23 is another character created for a series that later became part of the comics.
