From what I read in this thread. (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=83048) You shouldn't hold your breath, it seems unlikely that new eps will be picked up. .

I highly doubt that they would just not acquire new episodes. I'd bet a lot of money that they buy at least 26 more episodes when they are ready.

If it was canceled I would laugh my ass off at Pioneer. Pioneer added stupid pop references to the dub & skipped an episode all because they wanted Lupin to be mainstream. :bosko:

Woe to the Lupin fan for it seems we'll be hanging for awhile with no Lupin not even reruns which I would strangely , happily welcome . I know the new kids nowadays and even some old dogs will rag on me for wanting to see Lupin whether old or new instead of the new stuff and personally I don't care . The anime God's could offer me a three new Bebop series plus a second Trigun series and I still would rather see new Lupin's non-stop on AS straight through as well as all of the movies and tv specials . If that isn't a creed of a hardcore and loving Lupin fan then well you're nuts lol .

A straight dub would be even less sucessfull. How many people would recognize references to 1970's japanese pop culture and japanese style sexual innuendo?
Lupin does have a very impressive 155 episode run, too bad there isn't much chance of all of them getting aired.

There are almost no such things in Lupin's Japanese dialogue. The innuendo that is present is pretty tame, and the cultural references that aren't blatantly obvious are few and far between. However, I cannot disagree that a dub without a little added fun (as in, joking with a dab of innuendo) would have been significantly less successful. The Japanese dialogue is pretty simplistic: it often states the obvious.
And yes, it is sad that CN probably won't renew.

Why would they give Lupin III a proper airing?
There are plenty of unentertaining "new" series to show instead. Frankly, I knew this would happen because of the timeslot and the limited number of episodes in their rotation. After a few years you can see this a mile away. Just buy the DVDs when they're released like the rest of us have been doing :P
Here's hoping Pioneer both finishes the 2nd series and puts out the others...

At least they should move it to an earlier slot so I, a member of the working class, can enjoy it without programming my VCR or feeling groggy at work the next morning...
Please, Lupin at midnight... my kingdom for Lupin at midnight...

Did you hear that the Producer of Shinlers List( I hope I spelled it right) got the rights for the anime and manga to make a Live action version of Lupin the III? I read an artical in last months issue of ANIME INSIDER.

Well, legend has it that Steven Spielberg himself has a thing for the Castle of Cagliostro... but that's neither here nor there.
I'm with Bassist. I'd watch Lupin every night if it didn't air so late. I caught every episode when it was on at midnight (11 my time), but I haven't seen it since then. That being said, I don't expect to see it get the FLCL/Big O/Trigun/Kikaider treatment (even though it's every bit as good, if not better, than those shows), just because, in all honesty, it's old and looks it. I imagine it turns off a lot of casual AS viewers.

If there's one thing the quick return of Futurama has taught us, it's that there's a small chance Lupin could be put back on. However, the only way that could possibly happen is if Cowboy Bebop doesn't get good ratings during it's first few weeks back on AS. And that'll only happen if people don't bother watching it.
I have nothing against Cowboy Bebop, as it's the first adult anime I got hooked on, but I've seen it many more times than I have Lupin. Plus I have the DVDs of Bebop so I can watch the show uncut(which is much better than watching it on AS, unless they make Bebop interesting this time around and reduce the number of edits made)!
Then again, if Lupin doesn't look like it'll come back it's not all that bad. The first sixteen dupped episodes from The Return of Lupin the Third to Sheik Down can be found on three DVDs. :D

Why move a show that's in reruns to the prime anime slot? When they get new episodes, they'll move it to midnight, but for now, it's fine where it is. Lupin really doesn't stand up to repeated viewing anyway.

Lupin should be returning any day now. The annual TV movie always runs in August, but I don't know the exact date. Look for it on video next year.

No new Lupin?! Well they still got a few DVD's to release and translate/dub over the game for PS2. Once thats all over and done with, we can expect some more "Crap Screaming" action on AS.

Personally, I can enjoy Lupin reruns again and again, but like you said, WS definatley won't be putting this show on @ 12 or 12:30 as long as it's in reruns.
As for new episodes, I remain cautiously optimistic. I'm sure if Pioneer can crank out a bigger batch of episodes next time around, Lupin will do well enough to secure it's future on the block. These short runs just aren't cutting it.

Yahoo news had this story on a few months ago. Monkey Punch gave his okay as long as the five main characters are kept and their personalities aren't changed. Otherwise they can change anything they like, he's thrilled.
It's Schindler's list, so you were close.
