I frequent the television review site "Teevee". They recently had an article that talked about Salvador Dali and Courage the Cowardly Dog and Harvey Birdman Atourney at Law. I figured I would post it here for all to enjoy.

The part about Courage is right on, but the writer sadly misses the point of some of Harvey Birdman's prime gags as he nears his conclusion:
The answer to all these questions is, simply, because it makes you laugh. Harvey Birdman bypasses the brain and heads directly for the funnybone. The end result is less a sitcom than a stream-of-consciousness collage of lunacy. It's funny for funny's sake -- the sort of pure artistic ideal that might well have appealed to the great Salvador Dali. It's true it's funny, but I assume that, like the Boo Boo example, most of the inane plot points he describes are merely pop-culture references or, like the Bear and Black Vulcan, throw backs to earlier episodes.

Birdman is certainly out-there as far as humor, but can anyone call it funny for funny's sake? It's always seemed to have every joke, reference or surprise character founded in something far more intelligent than mere randomness.
