Last night's show:

"The Dish Ran Away With The Spoon"
"Porky's Baseball Broadcast" - edited
"The Captain's Pup"
"My Artistikal Temperature" - Popeye
"Adventures of Popeye" - Popeye
"Porky's Building"

Sadly, no Bosko, Buddy or one-shot Looney Tunes.:(

How did the Adventures of Popeye look, especially the live action scenes?

Looked very good, just as I remember seeing it as a kid.

--to note that "Artiskical Temperature", unlike the redrawn/colorized version run on Acme Hour, ran uncut. Though "Broadcast" was edited? I was going to say LNB&W was one of the few shows on CN that one could see pristine unsnipped shorts, but...never mind.

Anyone know the name of the tune used in "Porky's Buildng" as the workman with the corncob pipe walks back and forth to the dynamite plunger? I've heard it also--with the same odd little fellow--used in a short with Porky as a fireman.

Yes, that one Popeye short did keep in the "Mammy" gag unlike the re-drawn version. "Porky's Baseball Broadcast" edited out the "ticket scalpers" gag (see the 'Censored' page for a picture) and I can't help you out with the music question.

I think the tune was "Boulevardier From the Bronx"... which was also the title of a 1936 Merrie Melodie starring Emily the Chicken and a baseball playing rooster who sang the title song.

I thought that only Nick had "Broadcast" censored,(at least that is what is says on The Censored Cartoon Page). Can you describe me the Mammy gag in that Popey toon? You could pm me if you don't want to openly mention it.

CN broadcasted BROADCAST ( :p ) uncut at least once, but it's been edited for quite a while after that, and continues to be.

As for the blackface gag in ARTISTICAL, I think it's already described in the Censored Paramount Cartoons page. Check it out over there.

FINALLY I KNOW WHAT IS THAT SONG!! I always wanted to know because the scene with the dog with a pipe in " Porky the Fireman" is one of my favorite scenes of all time. (I don't know why, I just love it!) :D

The National Recovery Administration. Part of FDR's plan to bring America out of the Great Depression.

Some movie studios openly professed to being part of it, not Warners for some reason.
