I don't know how you guys might react towards this, but take a read before you start thinking I've finally lost it, OK? ;)
On Chilean Network RED TV, there's a show called "Hora Warner" ("Warner Hour") airing every Saturday/Sunday morning. The title appears like that, in spanish, and it shows assorted post-48 WB cartoons in uncut shape. This show has no new material at all, the entreacts are composed from clips from post-48 cartoons, but with the character's voices dubbed with something completely different, to make viewers believe they're talking between each other. There's always a theme for these conversations, like inventors, jobs, dogs, and natives (yes, you read that right, and they showed clips from "Which is Witch", "Bushy Hare" and "Caveman Inki"!), however, the "full" cartoons shown have nothing to do with the topic.
However, what intrigued me the other day and made me make this post, was the fact that they showed a clip from "Golden Yeggs" which is not in the cartoon itself. When you watch this cartoon in its regular fashion, this is what happens in the end: Rocky shoots Daffy in the head but narrowly misses, scaring Daffy so much that he lays a golden egg. There's a jump to Daffy standing up, leaving, but forced to go back to work by Rocky, Daffy faints, iris out.
During the "clip sequence", however, there's a shot of Daffy laying the egg, and then we get a shot of Daffy saying something happily to the camera, yet I don't know what he actually says, since it was redubbed.
Notice that this footage is not from another cartoon, since Daffy has the feathers of his head still blown away, and he clearly looks the same Freleng-type design that was used that period. I checked the print of my cartoon that I got from CNLA, and the scene is indeed missing. Since I haven't seen this short outside of CNLA in years, maybe the footage is there on uncut prints. I checked Jon's site and there's no mention of that scene. So these are the possible theories.
1.- The footage exists and CNLA edits it out, but if CN does that too it would have been noticed at Jon's site.
2.- The stuff is missing in the Blue Ribbon print, therefore whoever made that clip footage owned an original print of the cartoon.
3.- It was new animation used for the show. (Which I HIGHLY doubt, that animation was way too "Freleng" to be new.)
4.- I'm just imaginating things or it was a dream. (Although if I considered this possible, I wouldn't have started this thread in the first place.)
Well, that's it, I said it. I need that you guys tell me if this show exists in the US. (It was made there, there are english closing credits, including a WB copyright notice.) And please clarify if this footage exists in the uncut print of the cartoon. I will appreaciatte any info.
And if by any chance I'm right with theory Nš2... "Golden Yeggs" is going to be in the upcoming DVDs, and if the print there is restored (non-Blue Ribbon), the footage should be there.
Hope I didn't bother you guys too much. :p
