An interesting Walter Lantz find at the dollar store

I was at a dollar store today, and happened to come accross a bunch of Woody Woodpecker CD cases. The front wasn't anything special as you can see:

But, what made me actually pay $1.00 for one of these thin, cheap plastic CD cases was who the makers of the thin cheap, plastic CD case chose to put on the back.

There's Woody and Chilly... and instead of choosing somewhat recognizable characters (Buzz or Wally or Splinter & Knothead), they picked two totally obscure Lantz characters:

Yup. Those are the modern versions.... of Inspector Willoughby and Windy the Bear's son Breezy!?! I didn't even know they had modern versions of them! :eek:

I knew couldn't call myself a Walter Lantz fan if I passed up a piece of merchandise with Inspector Willoughby on it. :p

I find it surprising that Breezy got on the CD case, and Andy Panda, Wally Walrus, Oswald Rabbit, or Buzz Buzzard never even made it:p

I was just totally amazed to see those two guys on a piece of modern merchandise. And it was only a buck. :p

(Matthew pointed out that with a white moustache, Willoughby now looks an awful lot like the Mayor from the Powerpuff Girls)

Did Willoughby or Windy & Breezy ever actually appear on the new Woody show? Now I wonder if a modern, redesigned Andy Panda does exist and we just haven't seen him appear on any cheap crappy merchandise yet. :andy:

Just goes to show, you never know what you'll find at the dollar store.
