Announcement just made on the adultswim.com boards. The rest of the schedule remains the same, so Bebop is replacing Lupin.

Finally, I'll be able to watch the entire block...(I just don't like Lupin :P )

Well, I guess Bebop fans will be happy, I just hope Lupin won't be taken off for too long (I'm starting to love that series).

I'll be glad to see Bebop return,as I just saw the movie recently as well and it was pretty good.

Wasn't it suppose to return in September or something? Oh well, it's not like it's that big a change anyway, since Lupin was already on reruns that we had all seen before. Now all we have to do is wait for August 11th for those "We want Bebop" to shut up... and then for August 25th for the "We want Inuyasha" group to shut up.

Diana, dont even try to compare the We Want Bebop fans to the We Want InuYashu fans. There are maybe one or two messages a day on Bebop at adultswim.com, where half the board is about wanting IY back.

I think they're both part of the larger group of people who (1) whine about everything, (2) don't watch [as] every night, and (3) don't own/can't operate a VCR/TiVO. When the boards went online, they were making dozens of Bebop threads, which promptly turned into a torrent of IY whining when that went off the air. It's nice to see that WS is going to start deleting tons of threads; probably futile in the end, however. Maybe they should just make a script that automatically deletes any thread with more than 50 posts.

I hope that they will bring Lupin back with new episodes and maybe a movie or two...

.......

:sigh:

It's not that I hate Cowboy Bebop coming back to AS or anything, but I wished WS would just stop doing all these reruns for recent shows and just give us Mobile Suit Gundam full run for once. Even if it's on late late nights and stuff, I don't mind, just give this to us....

...or did they lost their rights to it?

Yeah, thats smart. That kills any long discussions which happen to be GOOD along with the long whinefest. What if this board deleted all threads over 50 posts?

Well according to the AS schedule for August thread that's been up for quite a while... That means this will be the schedule.

11:00 - Home Movies - #303: Bad Influences
11:30 - Family Guy - #2ACX07: A Picture is Worth a Thousand Bucks
12:00 - Fooly Cooly - #5: Brittle Bullet
12:30 - Blue Gender - #05: Priority
1:00 - Trigun - #01 - The $$60,000,000,000 Man
1:30 - Cowboy Bebop - #01

Now that's some good television!

I am a Bebop fan, but I wasn't constantly complaining that it was off the schedule. It had been run to death. Still, I guess I am happy to see it return, although I wish we could get some new Bebop somehow (you can only keep rewatching the same 26 eps. for so long). Watanabe said not too long ago that there will probably be more, changing his earlier statements, so we will see. I'd like to see the earlier story with Spike, Vicious, & Julia.

In the words of Inspector Zenigata "crapcrapcrap".

I like Bebop and all, but Lupin is really good too. I just wish Bebop replaced a show that isn't as good (this is the part where I would list some examples, but I will not in risk of starting a flame war).

On the bright side, the Lupin III DVDs from Pioneer have been released steadily with about two months between them. I always thought staying up past 1 AM was a little too difficult for those of us with jobs anyhow.

Edit:
Isn't Furi Kuri, coming it at only half a dozen episodes, just a little too short for Adult Swim? Will it be played over and over again or replaced by something else (God, if you're there, don't let it be Reign) in short order?

They might be putting Bebop on because they got the TV rights to the movie and want to hype it. Ever think about that?

That would be the greatest thing since sliced bread. I hope we get some confirmation at comic con, or in a text card.

I might be in the minority on this board, but figuring how I only caught Bebop once, I'm rather happy it's returning. Too bad about Lupin, though...

I wouldn't be suprised if they got the rights to the movie (for obvious logical reasons). I suspect Brak would be the one to break the news.

And Angelfire...this isn't the adultswim.com board...don't do "[Show] sucksssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!" posts in a regular topic about the show.

Careful dude, you'll end up sporting a huge vein on your forehead. :)

(Run-on sentence alert!) Having seen Bebop several times now, I am fairly indifferent and in anycase its going to bookend the block, so at least people who havent watched it or missed some episodes can catch it without eating up one of the more heavy traffic slots.

Seems like a win/win situation to me, and overall the projected block at that time looks pretty damn solid.

And yes, I know "fairly indifferent" sounds a bit silly.

Shnay

I'd rather keep Lupin on, but it's not like it hasn't gotten a good run. It's either Lupin reruns or Bebop reruns. Even with the several runs Bebop has already had, it still might pull in more ratings than Lupin reruns would. I just hope they keep it at the end of the block.

About the movie: if they got the rights to it, how soon do you think they would be able to play it? Usually it's a pretty long wait before a movie gets on TV, let alone basic cable. But this is a special case, I guess.

Any ideas on when/if the CB movie will come on?

I'm betting it won't be very soon, but it won't be a year thing. I'm thinking once HBO, DirecTV PPV, and maybe Starz! has gone through it, then we'll see it.

That's what CN did with the PPG movie, except for the Starz! showing.

I agree, and I just got here.

But anyway, yeah, it'd be pretty cool to see them play KOHD on Adult Swim sometime. 'Course, I bought the movie so it doesn't affect me as much, but yeah, it'd be nice to see the reactions from others who haven't bought it yet.

Incidentally, I still have my ticket stub from when I saw it in the theater back in April. I put it in the DVD case.

I was very pleasantly surprised at how well KOHD did in theaters, given the theater count. Here in Denver, The Mayan held it over for a midnight showing every Friday until the week before it came out on DVD!

Wow. Before I read your glorious, profound, insightful, and convincing argument that "Cowboy Bebop Suckssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " (with 14 "s"s and 32 exclamation marks) I was under the FALSE impression that I thought Cowboy Bebop was a profound, intellectually stimulating, dramatic, thoughtfully written, allegorical, and subtly humorous show, but now I've learned the error of my ways because you went into a discussion you knew was about a show you thought "Suckssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " (with 14 "s"s and 32 exclamation marks) and expressed your ultimately wise and enlightened opinion that "Cowboy Bebop Suckssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " (with 14 "s"s and 32 exclamation marks) Thank you, AngelFire, for informing me about this brilliant conclusion. I now know that I don't think Cowboy Bebop was a profound, intellectually stimulating, dramatic, thoughtfully written, allegorical, and subtly humorous show, but that it in fact "Suckssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " (with 14 "s"s and 32 exclamation marks)

PS: That was sarcasm. Just in case you couldn't tell.

PPS: That was patronization. Just in case you also couldn’t tell.

If, and only if, CN has secured the rights to the movie, do I understand bringing the series back for another run. No other show has been run and rerun so much on Adult Swim. Don't get me wrong--the series is brilliant and is one of my favorites but don't take up a spot another show can have with it. What CN really needs to do is make amends and finally give the original Mobile Suit Gundam series a full run in a regular time slot. They have treated this ground breaking series extremely shabbily.

Jesus, you're a broken record.

The fact is, Mobile Suit Gundam is TV-Y7.

Unless Cartoon Network purchases a new contract for the show to get the uneditted episodes, you won't see the show on Adult Swim ever again.

And even if they did, they'd have to wait for the current contract to run out. Considering they had to have renewed it to have scheduled it on SVES a while back, you'll be waiting a while.

Is that with the assumption that AS will expand and they will have a reserved slot to play movies, or do you think that they will clear out all the anime for one night and play it?

Killtacular
07-17-2003, 11:55 AM
Though Lazzo said they are trying to acquire more anime movies, I doubt they'll have enough movies to start a weekly rotation until 1st Quarter 2004 at the earliest.

So, they probably wouldn't make any announcements on the TV about movie aquisitions until they are ready to put movies on each day, or would they just do something like they did with Char's Counterattack and have just one day of out of the ordinary programming?

I'm glad. I guess I can understand how people are annoyed with Bebop, but for me personally, it's good. When AS moved to weeknights, it was bad news for me because my high school begins at 7:30 and I can't stay up everynight to watch things. So I thought, "Good, I've seen so much bebop that I'll stop watching it and 're-discover' it this summer when I can stay up late." Well that doesn't work when they take it off. I already made myself sick a few times in April staying up late for weeks at a time to watch Trigun in its first run. So good things for me. Especially if they're doing it to hype the movie, as someone already suggested. :D

*cough*Kikaider*cough* Lol this much be contagious because I've gotten your cold man *cough*Kikaider*cough* . Honestly do they have to pull Lupin ? I may be a hardcore fan , but come on it is one of those shows youcould watch 15 times without growing tired of it . Instead I'm faced with an answer to the fanboy's rants which though I love Bebop has been run what 26 times now lol ? Why doesn't WS just come out and say "We can't sjow Lupin or Inuyasha , but please feast on some "revolutionary kikaider " and the dbz of as "bebop " .

Sorry..I should have been more specific...CB has been run and rerun more than any other action show on AS. These comedy shows have also been run and rerun too much, especially when first aired, probably because they were rushed on the air before many episodes were available to the them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't G Gundam, currently airing on Saturdays, rated TV-Y7 also? As SVES is sort of a mix of Adult Swim and non-Adult Swim programming why couldn't MSG show up either on Adult Swim or SVES? After all, they are showing .hack, a show that could easily air on Adult Swim....

I don't think you're alone. Since they've started showing Family Guy and Futurama, Adult Swim's viewership has really grown substantially. And since Cowboy Bebop's never really had that great of a time slot for very long (it was the last show of the night when it premeired), I think they should let it have a weekday run in the midnight timeslot after Family Guy. You know, when they run out of new episodes of all the other anime.

Dammit, you beat me to it ;) I really think that they should hold off on returning Bebop until all the new stuff has had one or maybe even two runs than put Bebop on right after Family Guy, assuming it's still in the same place then. From what I've seen there are plenty of people who are interested in watching it, but not quite interested enough to stay up till 2:00 AM.
