Hey guys! Well, today I finally purchased a NES. However, I'm having some problems with it. Whenever I have a game in the system, the power light turns on and off, and the screen flickers. What is wrong with my system? I've cleaned all my games, and the NES won't work. Please guys, help me out!
Thanks in advance!

Did you Already clean The Games And The Nes i Always did that with alcohol and with those thing you sharp your nails i put it alcohol and clean it and there i do that and my nes stills work! :D
My NES also has that problem. As far as I know there is no solution & you just have to keep trying to get it on (after some time, it will work).

Yes
And The Nes
No, how do I clean the NES? Would'nt it kind of damage it?

You can clean it with a cleaning kit found at several video game stores. I haven't really noticed a difference though.

Hey DK, I have the solution! The cart connector inside your NES has bent pins in it, and the only way to fix it is to take apart your NES and replace that connector. You can go ahead and find out how to do this by searching through Google or AltaVista or any search engine. Luckily, I don't have this problem because I have the newer top-loading NES. I've had it since July 1995 and it's never caused any problems (except for when the power supply shorted out a couple of years ago, but that's been since fixed)!

This is a common problem and you can do multiple things to get it to work. First, you can clean the game by getting a regular Q-Tip (don't put alcohol on the cotton unless these attempts do not work) and running it across the disc to pick up any dust or dirt.
If it still flashes on and off while you try to get it to work, you have to move the cartridge while in the system (power still on) from side to side a little bit (a space or two one way, or a space or two the other way) and it should stop flashing.

Thanks for starting the thread (and thanks for using Gillberg as an avatar). I always like talking about Nintendo.
