Forget Loeb and Lee on Batman. THIS is the book I've been dying to see. Back when I was just starting high school, the Giffen/DeMatteis/Maguire JLI series was the book I most looked forward to getting every month. And now, it's back.

Anybody else get a copy today?

LOVED this! I know that the big guns will always be the real JL, but I was raised on 80's comics, and nobody's gonna convince me the Geffen League wasn't pure gold. Especially with Mr. Maguire on board.

From the opening voiceover scene with the "mystery villain" (who any fan of the Geffen League no doubt recognized immediately), I knew I was gonna love this mini. And now, some comments:

Last I remember L-Ron's mind was trapped in Despero's body. Anybody know when this changed? Has he even made any appearances since Supergirl...what was it...18?

Glad Blue Beetle's heart condition was mentioned. This'll make a better internal conflict than him just being fat.

Booster Gold attached to a sugar momma...yeah, I can see that. Has he ever been anything more than useless when not teamed up with Beetle?

Captain Atom is a character I used to absolutely love, but I haven't paid any attention to him since his OWN series got cancelled (what, like, a million years ago?). Does anyone know what's been going on with him the past few...oh...decades? And what's with the gold "Kingdom Come" look?

Sue Dibny...you gotta love the wife of a super hero who contributes more to the team than her husband does. :)

I forget...does Max's cyborg body still possess his old metahuman power to persuade people?

One complaint: no Mister Miracle? Sacrilege. What is he, SO busy?

My one futile, unattainable wish is that Guy Gardener would get his ring and brain damage back and join the new team. Funny thing is, the way everyone at DC seems to love ignoring continuity (cough...Wagner, Waid...), that could very well happen.

It was great.

For some of Whitmore's questions:

Booster had his own series, in which he did some heroic stuff, but his sister got killed superheroing and the series also revealed he ruined his life with gambling. He's also got that thing where he's one of the people supposed to represent the next leap forward for humanity. That might come into play if anyone ever remembers Millenium.

I think Captain Atom's new costume comes from that awful Living Assault Weapons? limited series, with the Charlton characters, a couple years ago. I'm pretty sure it's a homage to his original costume from the Charlton years, but I still don't like it.

I loved it, took a week find a copy because none of the comic stores I normally hit thought to order enough....

I quit the series at issue 100 so I don't know if it was ever cleared up but when did booster get all un-cyborged?

Captain Atom, yuck.... need the old silver suit back which looks like it's going to happen next issue.

I'm dying for the next issue at any rate. MORE, MORE, MORE!!

I'm pretty sure Monarch uncyborged Booster in an issue of Extreme Justice. I think it was supposed to be a sort of "deal with the devil" thing, but if there were consequences, I don't remember.
