Phantasm. She wasn't a villain, at least not to Batman, but she came back and seriously screwed up his life all over again. Now that got personal.

I voted catwoman cause shes my all time favorite. However, Talia and The Phantasm are also great female bat villians

Has to be a tie between Harley and Catwoman!

Catwoman, how can it not be? She's just as formidable as the rest, but her close personal ties to Batman push her over the top. The only other ones that can even be considered close are Poison Ivy, Talia, or Phantasm, but Ms. Kitty beats them all, easy.

Let's see, for best one shot female villian I would vote for Calendar Girl, and best regular villian would be either Talia or Catwoman (even though she's more of an anti-hero at times then a head on villian).

I'd say Harley if Batman didn't trick her into calling The Joker (knowing that Joker wouldn't want anyone to kill Bats but him) in "Mad Love" she probaly could've killed him with the "Death of a 1000 smiles" plan.

Probably the Phantasm....such an interesting character you know.

Phantasm, then Talia, then Catwoman.

Catwoman would have beat Talia if they hadn't made her go after Nightwing after the re-designs. But Phantasm definitely tops them all because she's the only one of them that ever made Bruce happy.

Calendar Girl does deserve mention though. She's just so tragic and a great social commentary to boot.

Even though she's hardly in the ranks of some of the other villains listed here, I think that it's great to see Calendar Girl getting a mention. :) I've always liked the character and thought she deserved another appearance or two.

Greatest female villain?
Well, I'm a stickler for emotional ties and bonds...with an element of craftiness and formidability to boot.

Gee....I'll tell you, I loved Harley Quinn....a really clever concept, really emphasizing the thin line between what is realistically sane and insanely realistic....good...bad.....normal....whack...you know. Just a cool character, need I say more?

And...Poison Ivy is very unique. She's one of those "super-powered" Batamn villains, per se....with abilities that exceed the limits of the human body in and of itself....of which Batman doesn't have many.

But....the emotional bonds there are lacking.

The Phantasm was a GRAVELY DEEP emotional bond....
Talia's love for her "beloved" always makes for a "touching" scene...

But I have to give my VOTE to Catwoman. She's like the forbidden fruit for Batman...the tempation. In her, he sees potential, making his feeling for her genuine, which makes HER even more formidable given his level of caring for her. However, she has (or had...in the comics, she's shaping up) some character flaws (theft, anyone?) that really eat away at Batman. The cat vs. winged mouse aspect is always fun to watch....love/lust vs. reality/ war on crime....good pathos! grand drama! unusual....stirrings :P.... Also, I have to consider Catwoman to have a heads up on the aforementioned for nostalgic purposes also...c'mon! She's a classic! That pussy's used up nine lives nine times over what will soon be NINE decades. She's stood the test of time.... quite a testament.

Catwoman!

I'm disappointed that she didn't have much appearance in TNBA.

Only in 2 episodes...

I went with Poison Ivy, mostly for the creep-out factor. She turned people into trees, nearly killed Harvey Dent, grew her own family, etc...all the while being absolutely obsessed with nature, viewing it as more important than human life. So, I went with her because she's such a powerful, wacko villain.

From an 'emotional conflict' standpoint, it would most definitely have to be Catwoman. I love the fact that sometimes she makes it hard to tell what side she's on.

I actually ended up voting for Harley Quinn. I took "best" to mean things like best used, best portrayed, that sort of thing and I believe that is Harley Q. She is easily the most popular new character from the series and got some of her own episodes despite being basically a sidekick for The Joker. Honestly when I think of B:TAS I don't often think of Harley, but she is easily the best ultilized female Bat-villain from the animated world.
